As a brand, Google+ is about as toxic as you can get. Any mention of the service getting close to a Google product usually results in instant rage among the denizens of the Internet. So while the identity, photo, and chat services will stick around, we'll start to see the G+ brand downplayed as much as possible.

Almost literally no one liked Google+ integration. I wonder how it feels when G+ developers see the unanimous consensus of the internet that they've developed a shitty product/service/faux social media/Thingamajig.

So now fast forward and YouTube is to acquiring Twitch - a video gaming streaming platform for $1 billion in cash. As you can see reddit is not too happy: YouTube to Acquire Videogame-Streaming Service Twitch for $1 Billion : Twitch

2nd comment probably answers the question Google really wants to know, if Google+ gets dissolved, will you miss it?

Google+ has been universally rejected, hated and finally thrown to the lowest possible layer of existence: Something only SEO people use for dem 'Social Signals'

Figured this would probably happen.

$1 billion tho. That's what they paid for Youtube itself. They only raised $35 million it looks like. I wonder how much they were valued at from their last fund raise.

Don't think thats entirely true. There are users, check out some big brands pages and you see real people commenting and lots of activity.

Its no facebook of course though.

Twitch is integrated on the PS4 and I believe the Xbox One was planning to do the same. A $1 Billion dollar buyout is totally justifiable.

Plus, it's Google. One billion ain't no thang.
