Best documentary I found on the subject. It covers just about everything important in terms of modern day China, minus HK.

Meh...just finished watching...

Nothing really groundbreaking. I dug the Chinese chick who was like, "If it weren't for my daughter, I would have left my husband a long time ago..."

If you are into this China type stuff, I would also recommend China: Triumph and Turmoil with Niall Ferguson

Yea, I was unaware of that when I made my post. I thought it was a one part deal. I will have to go and watch the other pieces...

Basically it's the wild fucking west going on in mainland china. good for retail business/manufacture, bad for humanity/environment. they have the capitalistic infrastructure set in place for the people who have the means to get involved, but very little to no existent human rights for their peasant workers that make the majority of the population and workforce. those either get with the program or get left behind. sort of similar to what life in eastern europe was like for the average person during the socialist days, though without major economic growth.
