Hi friends,

I'm building a site for Downloads for e-Reader devices, maybe not important... Anyway I'm having problems choosing a good color theme/scheme for the site, every one I tried looks weird to me. Does anyone know what would be a good color theme for producing most conversions? ...or is that just liquor and guessing (and split testing) :)

Thanks

In regards to conversions and color, the thing you need to be most aware of is visual cues / eye paths. More explanation here:

In regards to producing something that is visually appealing, here is a protip for non-designers who want to produce something that looks good. Hell, I even use this sometimes when I'm a little stuck creatively....

Step 1 - Go to Premium WordPress Themes and Web Templates - ThemeForest and find a site that you like visually. Take a screen shot of it and save it locally.

Step 2 - Head over to kuler , upload your picture and tweak to your preferences. E.g. move the points on the screen shot that it automatically chooses, switch from colorful / bright / muted etc.

Step 3 - If you want, you can register an acct, save the color pal, export the pal to photoshop etc.

Good luck bros.
