Hi,

I am new to the affiliate marketing world and have spent quite a bit of cash testing some things out, nothing profitable yet, although I made my first dollar last month :)
I'm in the process of creating another landing page on one of my sites for a particular offer and what I'd like to ask you guys is this:
If the offer has its own landing page what do you guys recommend I put on mine.
I'm hesitant to put similar copy and statements on my landing page as the offers' landing page, as I figure the user will get pee'd off and leave.
But if I don't then how do I convince the user to go to the offers' landing page. Also, do I put 'Buy now' on my landing page or 'Read more'.

(NOTE:
My background on this offer thus far is; I've gone for three different versions of a landing page.

#1 -> A landing page consisting of 3+ pages, BUT, a popup that shows the product and prompts the user to 'CLICK HERE', which redirects them to the offer's landing page. Users cannot ever close this popup and their only avaible option is to 'click here' :)
#2 -> A landing page with just the popup graphic and NOTHING else, and wherever they click they go to the offers' landing page.
#3 -> A landing page with 3+ pages with similar copy to the offers' landing page and 'Buy Now' buttons at the end of each paragraph.
RESULTS
#1 and #2 got the most click through's with #1 converting TWICE (a first for me).
#3 not getting much click through's

#1 seemed to work well with google as it rated most of my keywords quite nicely due to the heavy content in the background that the user couldn't actually access but was part of the page

#2 got banned after about 2 weeks (of google happily accepting my money) due to it being one big image with no content

#3 seemed to fail as maybe the users don't like reading long winded pages and then being redirect to another page with similar content
)

Your landing page doesn't have to say a whole lot, you can use some of the more powerful lines from the offer page. Sometimes the pop up that can't be closed wil pee people off too.
Another good thing to have on your landing page is a short survey that makes the reader feel like his opinion will make a difference to the product, this is also a good place to gather email addresses to build your list

and what should my button say do you reckon? 'Read More', 'Buy Now', 'Click Here' as this redirects them to the offers actual landing page?

Why not test all 3? Just pick one and go for it, then start testing the next one, etc, etc.

But I would avoid the word "buy" in the presell.

Yep, and most people say that an orange button converts better than other colors... that's still something you could test out on your own. The game is all about testing so don't hesitate using Google Website Optimizer. :)

I recommend that you do have at least 200 or 300 words of content on the front page, especially if you are doing SEO. I think it helps Google determine what your website is about. I would not use similar copy. You should write your own and customize it to the angle that your website is taking. For example, are you doing a review site? Write a simple initial write up of your review about the product and post it directly on the front page. Make it clean and clear to the point.

Hi,

Generally, is it better to several pages for the landing page? Or can you get away with 1 page similar to a sales page/copy?

Also, if you do a review style page... isn't it necessary to have more than 1 product (offer) reviewed on that page, with several pages... more like a "site" than a simple landing page?

I'm new to all this... Thanks!
