Trademark lawsuit.

Most of my MFA sites have trademarked names in them but since these are review sites I'm protected just like paypalsucks.com

Incorrect. There are tons of review sites in the WIPO archives, mostly because they are monetised on the markholder's traffic. You just haven't hit any companies who are hard about their marks -- some will let certain kinds of sites go, or certain traffic levels or whatever. PayPalSucks.com falls under fair use for commentary and criticism.

BTW, if any of you guys do find yourself in need of a domain name/trademark related lawyer, I recommend John Berryhill. He has represents Frank Schilling and other big name people in the domain business. He's a regular at NamePros and routinely demonstrates his knowledge of this particular angle of the legal field there.

Monetization and believe it or not - design, are key factors. Do not use the same color scheme and be very careful how you monetize the site.
You can have a site like Paypalsucks.com or Chase-Sucks.com provided you follow those rules. If you get greedy though prepare to get your turds burgled by their lawyers.

hand over the domains and get over it. Happened to me once when i was using a financial guru's name, but those guys were calm and very co-operative. Just asked me over email to hand over since they didnt want to file a lawsuit or even C&D. I actually made some decent cash off that domain already and it wasn't doing any good then, so i just handed over

I recently got my first C&D. I was in a bad mood and started a fight that I could not legally finish. I hit first and I hit fuckin hard. And I got C&D'd.

I took it down, and they didn't pursue. Whether or not I would have won doesn't matter - it would have cost us both more than enough money, and the lawyers would have been the real winners.

They don't want to sue. It costs them money and is a pain in the fucking ass and could be a bit of a media nightmare. Just make it easy and make it go away and all will most likely be forgotten.

From the sounds of it, your buddy IS in violation of trademark, and he will lose anyway.
