I applied two days ago in hopes of getting my ass back on Adwords after a ban. I didn't receive a call, but on the application page it said I was rejected.
I guess I got rejected because they found me in the system as someone with a suspended account.

Three questions for you. Did you list a physical address in Australia? Ever banned on Adwords? What was the phone call about?

I did not list a physical address in Australia. Never been banned in Adwords. I'll PM you the answer to #3.
 
I don't know why you guys are so hung up on the Australia bit, they have different programs for several English speaking countries. The one I linked to is the US version.

FYI, when I applied, I got approved right away without a phone call. But I've never done anything naughty on AdWords or got banned.

Having a good long term history of spending decent amounts of money on AdWords over the past few years probably helped too. I applied with my MCC account I use to organize all of my accounts.

Yeah I don't know what the Australia thing was about - didn't see that even mentioned. Surprised you didn't get a phone call though because I'm pretty sure it said that was part of the process. Unless you're already listed with them as an agency maybe? I haven't used my Adwords account in over 2 years so maybe that's why.
 
They have been doing this for some time. It was done when you got Google Adwords certification and they would send you 10 vouchers occasionally. If you used a lot they sent you more.

This is a bit more of a system and it seems they are not making people get certified before. But there is training and coupons for that.

But they are realizing finally that their system is fucked up and too difficult for the average person to setup properly and you almost have to have done it a few times to get it right.

And once a small biz hates Adwords it is hard to get them back. Better to have someone set up their account right.

But seriously if some business says $100 coupon is fine and $100 a month is a good idea, how much do you think you can charge them for setting it up right?
 
This thread needs to be taken into a very dark corner of the planet somewhere and left there where no one will ever find it ever again.
 
Surprised no-one has mentioned the following but I'm feeling generous so I'm going to share a profitable technique with you.

Step 1 - Find a niche in some type of service industry that meets the following criteria.

A) #1 in organic results is beatable within 6 months.
B) Large volume of Adwords bidders.

Step 2 - Create a website that targets the main keyword and all the longtail keywords in that industry. Place Adsense in all the right spots to maximise earnings.

Step 3 - Contact local businesses and offer them the $100 free advertising with Google.

Step 4 - Bid enough to get the top spots in Adwords display. This will push up the CPC for everyone advertising, not just yourself. Use convincing copy so that they WILL get more business.

Step 5 - Once Adwords credit is exhausted, contact them and try to talk them into a small Adwords budget. Don't try and milk them dry on management fees as you will get 65% of it on the back end anyway.

Step 6 - Contact more businesses and continue to push up the CPC.

For obvious reasons, you will need to use a different computer and IP address that has no connection to your real name, Google account, net connection or anything. An easy way to do this is a girlfriends name, a netbook and a wireless dongle.

If it's not obvious by now, this is a great way to earn a little money on the front end doing Adwords mangement and a lot more money on the back end with Adsense. You can offer to undercut any other agency that is working with any business and you can target your own sites with their advertisements with specific placements.

How is 'beatable in 6 months' determined?

Why do you need to use a different computer? Isn't it enough to use a VPN with a separate IP addy for each account?
 
It's determined by what ever criteria you use to decide if you can out rank the top dog or not. You could use a VM and VPN, I just prefer a separate machine and connection to avoid accidentally logging into the wrong account one day. Also, I don't trust them not to be scanning for stuff like mac address info etc. Yes, I know it can be spoofed.
 
Well just had my phone interview and got it approved. Had to wait about 5 days from application.
 
When you apply, what kind of website you show them ?
Like SEO or internet advertising company site ?

Show then your local dentist or whatever and say you have them as SEO clients but want to get them into adwords. They will probs make you sign up for a MMC account. Had my interview last week, still aint recieved approval though....

Im in the UK, applied last Tuesday evening, had the phone call following morning and was approved straight away.

With regard to the website, I do have a website for local work but they didn't seem bothered either way.

Btw in the UK (well in my case anyway) I was given 20 x £50 coupons. There is a time limit though, they must ALL be used before the end of May 11.

Dunno what these muppets are doing with my account. Will try and escalate if I hear nothing within 48 hours.

You should be able to rape those by the end of May.

I was suprised as to how quick they responded. Maybe applications are low compared to US?
