I have just decided to try my hand at professional poker.

I have just received my first stake offer, and am on my way to WSOP, I hope within the next year or so!

They say LA is better than Vegas if you want to be a full-time live pro. If you're decent you could get all the staking you want from the 2+2 marketplace.

Have fun. Get ready to grind it out for hours on end. Prepare to sit in a chair for 8 to 15 hours a day, eat unhealthy food, get health problems from lack of exercise and non ergonomic casino chairs. Deal with douche bag "tourists" and or drunks that will get lucky and suck out on the river and take your rent money, and then have to go and explain it to the guy you suckered into giving your original stake how you lost his money. Playing pro poker every day is a real grind constant fluctuations to your bankroll will leave you stressed out.

And by the way if your planning on really going pro and living off of it make sure your bankroll is at least 30 times your buy in ie.. you buy in for $500 you should have $15,000 put away available. If you dont follow this 1 rule (no matter how good you think you are)you will be broke and back to your regular job with in a week

Hmmm doesnt really sound like is to far from in the start of doing online marketing

As Daniel Negreanu once said, "It's a hard way to make an easy living." Not meant to discourage you but much like internet marketing it's all about your putting in the hours and self-discipline.

And as BradleyT2p2 points out, the LA poker scene is much better for grinding out a living. Lots of great card rooms (Commerce, The Bike, Hustler, Hawaiian Gardens, Hollywood Park) and a lot more stupid money out there.

"It's a hard way to make an easy living."

I came here to post this exact quote. I played poker seriously (online) for about six months. But more than being hard, it becomes incredibly boring. I remember watching an interview with Galfond (a top pro) where he admitted to being incredibly bored with poker/his job.

Play. Have fun. Make money. When you get bored or tilted, get out.
