You sound a bit defensive there, Rex, did I hit a nerve close to home?
I'm far from defensive. I was actually writing that in a very calm tone and laughing at the same time. I actually had to re-read your post a few times because I was shocked you'd make such logical fallacies.
I was talking about the zealots, not what all ppl who watch the 700 club do.
That's fine if that were the case, but that's not what you said and I probably should have broken this down in my earlier post.
-Christian Zealots, between their church-related activities are couch-surfers. They watch stupid shit like the 700 club and church from home, and listen to stupid shit like Christian Rock. This shit makes you stupid, fast. (And they obviously weren't that smart to begin with.)
That's a really odd definition of a zealot. In your muslim example, you had them be extremists that go to great lengths to push their beliefs on the world. However, above you have them be sheeple.
Instead, you're typecasting perceptions of a small minority of Christians by a couple of their behaviors.
The fact that you're doing this and then calling those behaviors stupid, because they are so different from the definition of a zealot (couch potato and stupid), is actually a reflection on what you think about the 700 Club and Christian Rock.
By your definition then, everyone who listens to the 700 Club and Christian Rock are couch potatos and stupid sheeple. That's what I was calling a load of shit.
And I've been forced to hear tons of christian music... More than enough to know that it's a whole industry based in taking advantage of ppl with very small minds.
Again, you're making a few different logical fallacies. You're assuming that since the bands you've "been forced" to listen too say things against your own core beliefs about religion that they are brainwashing and taking advantage of people. Not only that, you go one step further to typecast their fans as being small minded and sheeple.
I really don't know what you've been listening too, but the majority of people who I know that listen to Christian Rock are active 15-30+ year olds who are very open in trying new ways to worship, benefit the community by volunteering and supporting the local community, people who are having hard times, etc.
They are also very open to debating religion and far from shut off about hearing other's beliefs.
Again, far from your definition of a sheeple who's a couch potato, and you can't say the entire Christian Rock music is out to take advantage, because without that kind of medium those teens and young adults wouldn't have been reached and been able to relate to other people to form those bonds that allowed them to help their communities.
Anyway, like I said - it's really easy to typecast, but what you're doing is killing any credibility for your statements by using such logical fallacies in your arguments.
