Got a website domain. Got wordpress installed with some SEO plugins. Got some keywords with low volume and competition. Put out my first article. Now where do I go? Where do I go to get good linkage going? I have been reading on keywords and understand I need to place my keywords in relevant articles and link the articles to one another and have a site map. But aside from that, I am lost.

My plan for today is to pump out 2 - 3 more articles on the subject, implementing my key words and then linking them together as a relevant keyword. Any help is much appreciated

> Got some keywords with low volume

What do you consider 'low volume'? Is there enough traffic to bother building the site around?
You're ideally looking for a balance between high search volume and low competition.

@Staccs
The way I wrote it, I can see how you got the idea. But, I am doing just that. As far as "Everywhere you can." Where do you start? Just commenting on higher ranked pages that are blogs and having your site as your signature?

@Chianti
Low volume is around 10k a month for my main keyword with next to nothing in terms of a competitor. I did not want to jump into the shark tank my first go round, but would rather jump in to a keyword I could hopefully dominate and use my successes further down the road. The site is something I am passionate about, so I would build a site around it regardless - the money is just extra. I am trying to squeeze as much juice from my half slice as I can get.

Appreciate the comments guys!

If you have a budget, head over to the buy sell trade section. If you are doing it all yourself, head over there anyways. Look at what the most popular services are and do the work yourself.

I'd suggest getting some social bookmarks and some high PR profiles built next if all you've done is a couple articles. Good diversity in your backlinks is key.

Don't discriminate any links, get them all. Follow the advice of GoogleBitchSlap and head over to the BST and look at the link services offered. Note the different kinds of links (i.e. Profile, Comments) then go get them yourself :thumbsup:

Been looking at the BST and most likely will purchase a service or two. And then look how things are done and work further on it myself. I plan to dedicate today to more article writing and looking through the BST to find the best deal for the service.

Appreciate all the help!

Back - wrote some more articles. Question I rank 1 for a fairly obscure keyword phrase, but Google is just using the intro to my post as the description.

I rank number 4 for the keyword phrase I was going for. How does one get past my 3 competitors and how do I now start branching out to other keyword phrases I want to take over?

Ok the last ranking was because I obviously was an idiot and didn't remember that Google places sites you visit up on the list. My name is Massive Noob for a reason.
For my main keyword phrase I currently rank 15th with a secondary keyword ranking of 36. In AOL I rank 9 for my main keyword and not top 100 for secondary. Yahoo and Bing, I am not even indexed. Are these two engines slower at adopting new sites than the Goog is?

I am adding new pages and posts daily - I am using a WordPress blog. From an SEO point is there any advantage of a static page over a post?

Static page or a post look pretty much the same to a spider.

However do change your Wordpress permalinks. Use this: /%category%/%postname%/

Assuming that your keywords are your categories...which they should be you are basically keyword stuffing your posts (have you noticed how Google tends to try to match your query to the actual domain name?)

My category is a keyword that is full of competition. Is there any harm in changing them even though its been just /postname/ since the blog started? Or should I make the change to the category of a more realistic keyword?

I am using a plugin to take out the garbage words - if my category and my post name were exactly the same, would this help or hurt me? Ie. www.ilikepuppies.com/puppies/puppies ?

Look at some serps and report your findings.
