"23-year old Maurice Harary tells TMZ, he made a beeline to his NY apartment as soon as he heard the news of Osama's death -- and started building a website to sell his "OBL is dead" t-shirts.

Maurice claims the site went live at 3:30 am on Monday -- and by Tuesday evening, he had already sold around 10,000 units at 12 bucks a pop ... meaning dude raked in approximately 120k in less than two days..."

Kudos to him. I thought about it bidding on the keywords, but my money was tied up.

GOOD FOR HIM!

I thought about doing the same as soon as I heard the news, I just didn't wind up on some terrorist hit list, again.

it only says he made the site, but you got to remember he had to promote it.

he prob didnt rank organiclly to make those sale, but more then likely did ppc.. so the entire 120k wasnt profit ( ppc ad costs, tshirt costs ).

According to slate, the guy is making $1/shirt - so he's only banked $10k so far. Design is actually quite good, I just hope he got permission for use of that photo otherwise he is all sorts of fucked.

well, who hold the copyrights to a dead terrorist's public image though?

Just read the comments, loling at the broke losers complaining that he made some money.

"To get these numbers, I downloaded the DailyDomains.org list of the approximately 200,000 domains newly registered on May 2 and May 3 and tallied the number of names that included "osama," "usama," "binladen," "bin-laden," "binladin," or "bin-ladin." (By comparison, DailyDomains lists fewer than 1,500 registrations containing "japan," "quake," or "tsunami" for March 10, 11, and 12.) They range from the concise (osamarip.com) to the bewilderingly long (osamabinladenwaskilledonmayfirsttwothousandeleven.com), and from the celebratory (adiososama.com) to the paranoid (osamaconspiracy.com)."
