I'm currently working ~26" LCD monitor.

I'm not too big into TV or games so my TV isn't much bigger.

Anyway, buddy of mine set up a desktop to his 55" LCD tv. He has a wireless keyboard/mouse set up for gaming, surfing the web, watching movies, etc.

Just wondering if any of you guys have a work setup like this?

I spend ~90% of my time writing. Do some design work and a little programming as well.

I don't have major problems with productivity, but if it helps with eyestrain or just making it easier to get shit done I guess it'd be worth it.

Thoughts? Experiences? Dickrolls?

I appreciate it.

IMO it will NOT help you're productivity, You're still looking at the same amount of screen real estate only bigger, Plus larger monitors or TV's don't support stupid big scree res. TV's almost always 1920x1080 MAX.

Get more screens instead of bigger, Dual monitors easily doubled my speed, I have three now but the third only increased productivity a little more, not as big of a bump as going to 2.

I read a reference to a study a while back, about monitor size and productivity. iirc, they concluded that larger screens were good for productivity up to 24" or maybe 27" (can't remember which). Beyond that, a larger screen lowered their measure of productivity.

Problem was that the measurement they used were based on pretty simplistic tasks, that don't necessarily simulate "real" work.
So, this may or may not be useful information...

^ yep I would much quicker get more monitors vs. 1 huge one.

I have one big one with two on the sides, and another workstation with two, could never and would never want to juggle my day on one huge screen.

Dual monitors bro. My uncle has a 4-monitor screen setup. 1 for media, 2 for business (works as a webmaster and developer for 2-3 large clothing and retail companies), and one for general browsing. With dual monitors, your productivity will increase exponentially, guaranteed!

I would try and find the same 26inch you have and just do the dual screens,

Mismatching monitors can be troublesome for your eyes if you are doing 12 hours a day.

I upgraded about a year ago. Helps a lot with eye strain. 48" tv decreased my peoductivity so I use a 26" monitor.
