Whitey Bulger Caught in Santa Monica

California authorities say fugitive Boston mob boss James 'Whitey' Bulger has been arrested in Santa Monica after 16 years on the run.

Bulger, wanted in connection with 19 murders, was arrested by the FBI.

The 81-year-old has been the subject of several books and was the inspiration for the 2006 film The Departed.

Not terribly surprising I guess, there are tons of Boston transplants in Santa Monica. It was largely believed he was hiding out in Europe all this time.

Movie the departed was based on him. always been on the FBI's most wanted list. Thought to have had multiple facial reconstruction surgeries, lipo, etc.

Yeah, the book is a gritty and rather facinating look at these people and the things they did. It was actually written by one of his underlings but Bulger is pretty much a main focus. Full Title: "Brutal: The Untold Story of My Life Inside Whitey Bulger's Irish Mob"
