let me Increase your knowledge , Google panda have nothing related to backlinks :P , Google panda is all about to reduce the duplicate content. If your website have duplicate content and you make tons of backlinks to that page then still it wont get too much serp in search engine but if you increase the quality of your content and then make backlinking then it will help :D
