London Anarchy

It all started when armed officers stopped a Taxi that was transporting an (alleged) drug dealer who was sort of a "big man" in the local area. It gets sort of hazy after that, the original story I read was he shot at an officer and the police shot him dead. Now it's transpiring he had a converted replica gun on him but never shot at the police - who fired at him twice under "imminent danger". This is what is meant to of started it all, but the family have expressed their disgust at his memory being used in this way. The general public know it's just a rouse for mindless thugs to go on a rampage.

It's progressively got worse over the last three days, probably in part to an initially weak police response. Now we can see from the TV that big gangs of youths are tearing up entire town centers, attacking police cars and stations. The most aggravating thing about it all, is it's the general public who pay taxes for these things and will have to pay for the clean up bill. I think it's time to save money and invest in bullets to put these disgusting thugs down.

This is a quick walk around the block from my office and I'm not even in London!

There are many small independent retailers whose shops have been wrecked but I didn't want to photograph them out of respect.

All of these businesses employ people and pay taxes towards the idotic social programs the goverment shits money down the toilet on trying to help the fuckin idiots who did this.

Anyone who thinks for one minute that there is anything in this but criminal animals is a god dam fool.

For those wondering what the police are doing - it's very difficult for them to deal with this, firstly they're so shit scared they'll be the ones in court if they bust some skulls and secondly it's being done by small to medium groups of criminals, not protestors. It's very difficult to cover every part of a city like London and the groups are mobile and can disperse quickly.

This is what you breed when you remove self responsibility from a person.

Sheep led to slaughter. You deserve what you get if you don't want to defend yourself. With no guns it is you against a gang = zero chance. With guns it is you and your guns against a gang with their guns = fighting chance depending on your position and skill.

Look, let's not make this into a discussion about gun laws. I never said I wouldn't defend myself, just that I prefer my chances without a gun if it means an attacker is unlikely to have one either. We can get into all kinds of hypothetical situations where you come out the winner, let's not. I am quite happy to have a police force with guns who can use them when necessary.

Police are only good after the fact.
 
Glad I chose to live outside of London... there's little chance of where I live being attacked by the rabble, we're too far out for them.

My biggest worry would be the fact that I might get into trouble for defending my property. The only way to stop a gang coming into your house is to make it clear that anyone who does runs so a high risk of dying.

And the only way to demonstrate that is by stabbing the first person who gets too close. Not sure how that would stand up in court.

Apart from that - this is what happens when you create an underclass, as our society has. They don't feel they have a stake in society, so they just want to fuck it up for everyone else. The only options you have are to try to improve things (which is very hard), or suppress them (which is totalitarian).
 
@papajohn - our police are a disgrace at enforcing public order.

They flex far too much muscle at legitimate, peaceful demonstrations, inflaming them into violence.

Then when there's a real riot causes by real, honest-to-goodness criminals, they are total pussies.

On the plus side, it's finally knocked the coverage of the News Of The World phone hacking off the front pages.

The law on this has changed recently and now you can take reasonable force (compared with the law under Labour where you practically had to open the door for the burglar to leave or you'd be sued, by the burglar).

I don't agree with arming the local UK population because it ups the stakes, though a part of me is kind of glad the USA population is armed in case of world wide wars etc.

I am afraid though the UK government is far too liberal. The Home Secretary Theresa May, a woman I used to have respect for, has ruled-out the use of water cannon. I mean, what far-removed planet does this woman live on? The police were so outnumbered that they were unable to intervene in looting in London for god's sake!! This is the end result of PC / liberal society, criminals running the streets, police afraid to take forceful control with their hands tied by the government.

I am flying into Liverpool tomorrow from Italy with my Italian girlfriend who is a big Beatles fan. I wish I'd rented a humvee now rather than a ford focus.
 
So London does have a black population? This whole planet is fucked. Everywhere you turn this shit just keeps gettin worse. For you guys over near the shit stay safe and hopefully it doesnt get to out of hand
 
@wezcountry - the law has always allowed a "reasonable force" defence. Afaik there's been no specific change in law, the change has been in guidance offered to the Crown Prosecution Service. There is a new justice bill due, but it hasn't been made law yet.

Agree about water cannons - we're happy enough to use them against the Irish, but something about using them in the streets of London seems to offend the politicians' sensibilities.
 
It's amazed me how widespread this has become. I hadn't been paying too much attention to the news recently but today, oh-my. It's all around London and now other cities.

The police have to get their act together. The real crime is how impotent they are to act. It's unbelievable that they can't use water cannons, after all isn't that a crowd control weapon?

Hopefully we see a real change in police response tonight. But I think it will be difficult for them.
 
I'd love to see the reactions of these thugs if they had royal marines running after them. The police need backup.

re: water cannons - one of the guys who dealt with the Brixton riots is on saying they have tested water cannons in London, but they don't work well because the streets are too narrow. There are better things like foam guns which are more effective, but they haven't got them.

Yeah, the police shooting Duggan was the catalyst, just getting a group of people together in a small area.

The real reasons for this run deeper, and it's been coming for a while.

Obviously London has a very large black population. It is the most ethnically diverse city on the planet.


About two-thirds of the rioters are black, the rest are white. Not many asians or other races involved tbh...


And, there are loads of hot women in London from every country in the planet... :action-smiley-052:

London is bad at the moment. Very bad.

But I'm not sure vigilante groups of armed, angry shopkeepers would help a great deal. Fortunately most of the harm so far has been to property, not people and I think most sensible people would like to keep it that way.

Streets full of dead teenagers the year before we host the Olympics is not something to aspire to.
