Anonymous Aims To Destroy Facebook on Nov 5

prolly a good way to re-market FB? now since everyone will talk about this bullshit event for next few days or months. All FB needs right now is publicity. Seems like staged

“TO PRESS: MEDIAS OF THE WORLD… STOP LYING! #OpFacebook is just ANOTHER FAKE! WE DONT “KILL” THE MESSENGER. THAT’S NOT OUR STYLE #Anonymous

Stupid on many levels

1) Announcing it gives facebook plenty of time to prepare their servers and bandwidth

2) Gives private and government security investigators the time to setup armies of honeypots and wait to see which botnets are attacking facebook, trace the servers and then expose and the case of government investigators, arrest people.

3) Facebook has 500+ million active users a day who spend god knows how much time on the site and do all sorts of things on the site. They have tens of thousands of servers in who knows how many data centers and I'm sure plenty of incoming fiber, it's gonna take more than the average anonymous DDOS to bring it down and the longer those botnets work the more time security researchers have to run through their honeypots and analyze the source of the attacks.

This is Facebook totally using Anonymous to market Facebook. All the signs are there.

I wouldn't be surprised if on Nov. 5th Facebook went down for a minute or three in a faked DDOS attack and "emerge victorious."

My social network theory was that a social network remains popular until the generation gap of its user base closes. My logic was that no teenager or young adult wants to have their grandparents, parents, or uncles and aunts on their friends list.

As Facebook appears to be an exception to my social network generational gap / entropy correlation theory, I'm stumped. Which leads me to believe that Facebook is immortal, and that it's servers are clearly run on sorcery.

Anonymous doesn't stand a chance.

It won't be a faked DDOS, don't forget due to the nature of 4chan, even if it was originally initiated by Facebook, there'll always be people who aren't associated with Facebook getting involved.

Anonymous is mad

I would have thought the most effective attack would be a mass brute force of user passwords... if they set botnets going early, they could probably crack enough of them to cause mayhem.

Although having given a warning, they have no chance now.

If you want to steal passwords and you have a botnet you'd [allegedly] probably be better off just doing mass scale phishing.
