Holy fucking bear shit

Totally putting aside the issue of farming bear bile...

The mother bear could have also been fucking crazy and decided to kill her cub and run into a wall. Just saying...

Jesus, can't believe only one person has pointed this out in the thread.

If a bear has a discomfort or pain in its stomach, why would it not hit it out of anger/frustration? This doesn't mean it's trying to kill itself.

Also, a bear is a wild animal, why would it not just randomly freak the fuck out as Ischmidt pointed out above?

The treatment is disgusting, hate to read about this. I just don't think they're that intelligent. Apes and dolphins are usually considered as some of the most intelligent animals and even these tend to act very rashly out of nothing.

There are very few if any large order mammals that will just flip out and kill their offspring, then themselves. Suicide is not a natural reaction.

This is easily the most horrific mistreatment of an animal I've ever heard of in my entire life.

It simply doesn't compare to ruthless butchering because they are keeping them alive and torturing them for as long as possible, probably years.

It's like a bad horror movie.

Ok, so what are the few "large order mammals" that are most likely (or have been known to) to kill their offspring and then themselves, like you suggest? Anyways, the point is that the bear was probably *crazy* and not having a *natural* reaction.

Just came back to check this thread. I thought it would be pretty much understood that the bear was just going crazy, possibly as a result of how it was treated.

No way dude. I also just heard they found calculus scratched into the side of it's cage. Apparently it needed to determine what velocity was required at the time of impact to kill itself.

Jesus, Kids!!

Almost everyone else that posted in this thread were more concerned about the tragic death the bear(s) had to die because of the bile fucking milking pain they had to endure.

The most important thing here is not "if the bear was crazy or if it mercy-killed its cub but killed itself"

But

The bears had to die because of the shitty painful treatment they endured. If it was an incident in a Zoo or something you could have guessed anything but here in this case it is the inhumane treatment that resulted in the deaths of the bears.

what the hell is wrong with these people.....just yesterday stumbled on youtube video of a cooking contest, where they fried half the fish and served it still living.

I looked up animal suicide because this thread got me curious, and apparently it happens more often than I thought in all sorts of animals.

"Pea aphids, for instance, when threatened by a lady bug can explode themselves, scattering and protecting their brethren and sometimes even killing the lady bug. They are literally tiny suicide bombers, Joiner told Discovery News."

It could be explained by evolution if it increased the chances of survival for offspring or close relatives, I guess.

I lol'd.

Waiting greenpeace reaction on this horrible event. What is surprising, chinise people make from the dead babies and victims of abortion pills, 99.7% consisting of human tissue.

To those of you whining about previous posters calling the Chinese "animals", please take a big bite of fetus stir fry and shut the fuck up.

-Thank You

Holy shit! I don't understand why the Chinese often find it good to do extremely different things as compared to the normal ones. They are killing many other lives to save few. Are communists really this way?

Fetus stir fry cooked in bear bile, maybe?

But seriously, save a bear, eat a fetus. Being punctured in the stomach and forced to live isn't justifiable in any way.

Saw a video on youtube with male dolphins raping females, everyone tries to make out animals are so nice and better than humans but they do the same things.

If you read up more on the animal world in general there are a lot of cases of them doing very devious things to each other.

The only difference of course is we have a conscious that's supposed to stop us from it.

I'm agreeing with you..there are none. Only humans have expressed such huge irrationality on a large scale.

Read Dawkins Selfish Gene and a few other books on evolution, you'll get plenty of examples of animals killing their offspring and doing strange things to each other..

But no never heard of them killing themselves after the fact.
