You sound like a fairly disciplined individual. If you actually throw yourself into a niche your passionate about I could see you making much more than just a few dollars a day. Since you’ve got a solid day job, go ahead & experiment w/ways to really create & grow a good site. Once you’ve got that then you can go ahead & branch out, adding new sites.
I’d take each of your steps though & take this time to dig even deeper & really educate yourself. i.e. learn as much as you can about SEO, research your competition & what works for them, & think about multiple monetization methods besides just affiliate offers so you can really see what fits w/your niche site.
Hey thanks. The problem with the niches I am passionate about are they are difficult to compete in (computer security, doing e-commerce is out as I researched that... I could try product creation I suppose. Pickup I am not allowed to compete in that space for legal reasons I can't get into). Those are 2 spaces I have made in money professionally so those are the first two that come to mind.
Right now I am studying anything and everything I can get my hands on (which is why i asked about reputable products earlier, I downloaded a ton but the signal to noise is skwed). I have a pretty good grasp on SEO (not good or even close to automated enough to offer packages like google sniper, or dfb), but theoretically I understand what both are doing. I also see how the backlinking works and having worked in tech for a while I am very pro automation. I like how this space even uses computer security terms (black, grey and white hat). Once I have a faily good grasp and have gone from start to finish with my first couple of niches (including, wordpress, article creation, manual submissions, and finding affliate programs). I will probably implement what appears to be considered "greyhat" (automation, gaming the system, etc). I will probably never implement things that are "blackhat" (cookie attacks and various other hacks).
One aspect of this game that I am not interested in is coding. I can do ok with perl but I am not interested in teaching myself php or sql. I have never been interested in development. Perl i taught myself simply to script repetetive tasks.
I plan on moving from NYC to Colombia in 25 months and hopefully doing a 4 hour work week style retirement (not sure if you guys are familar with the book by Tim Ferris). I was kind of hoping that I could get up mutiple passive income streams through AM and move away from the infosec space.
You mention other moneiztation methods. Here are the ones I am aware of am I missing anything (I am sure I am)
01) E-Commerce
02) Affliate Marketing (no ppc)
03) Product creation
04) Affliate Marketing (ppc)
05) Adsense
06) Site that has monthly subscription
07) Etc?
If there are any articles on this site or products you could suggest I would be more then happy to look at them.
Right now I am hoping just to go through the process a few times to get my feet wet and kind of adjust as I go along. I will be finishing my market research next week and be purchasing hosting, domains and uploading wordpress blogs for my first 2 niches by next Thursday. After that I will work on finding affliate products, get back links blah blah blah. Maybe I will find something else to do but in the meantime I hope to keep adding niches. It seems finding niches & keywords are the only createive part. The rest just seems very process based.
Thanks again for the response
