Alright - I know this forum can truly follow its name and be wicked to us affiliate noobs, but you also provide a lot of valuable info. So here goes...

First off, I'm certainly not giving away any great secrets or special affiliate programs, so I have nothing to lose by letting it all out in the open...:rasta: I just need to learn at this point...

Offer:
I'm using the Thompson cigar sampler offer from azoogle.

Landing Site/Page:

I have my own mini-site landing site, using their ad as a base for design. I wrote my own landing page article and cropped together a few other articles from different sources. I even added a geo-targetting 'this offer is now available in {insert state here} ', piece. I'm masking the affiliate link, as well.

Site Url : www . discountcigarstore . info

PPC:
I'm using Yahoo to PPC advertise. I have one campaign with two ad groups of about 500 keywords each (based on buying cigars and cigar brands). I have about 4 ads in each, with the ads mirroring each other in both groups. I bid the lowest amt - knowing that I didn't care if I got a 1000 hits a day, I just wanted to get some so I could tweak it along the way. My quality rank is 3/5. I'm getting about a 0.98% click through (about 80 clicks out of 8000 impressions) - so while my position in the ads has something to do with that - so does my ad text I'm sure...

Sample Ad Text :
Premium Cigar Sampler
Save over 65% on our Premium Cigar Sampler + Free Bonus Offer.

I've tweaked the ads to the best of my knowledge and tweaked the landing page. I'm getting barely any click through to the offer and zero $ being made. At this point, I really don't know what I should focus on fixing. That is where I humbly turn myself to you...

Thanks for any input you may have...(Yea, and I'm sure there will be some questionable input as well :))

Matt

^^^Free google ads??? Where have you been all of my life?

I just hope a mod doesn't come through and say something like....

BANNED BIYATCH!!!

Only problem is Azoogle doesn't allow search for Thompson Cigar.

They did allow search a few weeks ago but I was only able to get a few conversions before my AM emailed me saying Thompson doesn't want search allowed since they are not allowed promote cigars via search.

Type cigar or cigarette in google. You will see no ads show up. For some reason Yahoo allows. MSN does but the page can't relate to selling actual cigars just cigar boxes or generic sites like ebay, etc.

Thanks for the replies...

Yea - I flippin forgot about adsense on tobacco related pages. I just removed it. The funny thing is that Adsense clicks were the only money I made on this - LOL...I did put them on there for hopefully quicker indexing, and make a few pennies on the side - I guess my greed got ahead of me.

So - basically, I suck at picking out offers, but the Ad Text and Landing Site is OK ?

don't know if you haven't read it on the forum, but having over 500 words per ad group isn't a recipe for success.

I thought in Yahoo - you go for bulk, while in adword you keep it 20-25? I never understood why that was different, and maybe that's one of the reasons I'm going wrong...

Sounds like your bounce rate is very high, so I would play around with removing a step in the process and iframing thompsons landing page right into your landing page.

or..

Copy thompsons landing page and put it on your site and iframe the real landing page in a 1x1 iframe pixel to load all the cookies.

You should check out my link (the advanced version) in my signature. It could probably help a lot.
