I like Steve's Original Paleokits. The Paleo Krunch bar will keep you regular, and the Grass Fed Palekits are super delicious.

Steve's Original: Paleo Kits, Paleo Diet, Zone Diet, Paleo Diets, Gluten Free

I have also been buying beef jerky (it's somewhat processed and not true paleo) from Greg @ BeefJerky.com

The hot jerky is so hot, it is almost impossible to eat. I use it in cabbage soup (small pieces) to provide kick.

The Final Frontier Black Pepper Jerky is plenty hot and super delicious. The Teriyaki is like candied beef, not paleo, but real tasty.

Anyone got any other paleo type foods they mail order, or specialty brands that can be found in stores? Please share.

Paleo Plan if you want to have everything but the cooking part of Paleo solved for you. For someone as successful as you, you may even be able to point a personal chef to the site and just have them prepare that for you on a weekly basis. Been self-cooking using this site as my source for the last three months and I'm in the best shape of my life...been exercising too though.

also, swole.me (that's the URL) is a neat little app for making meal plans. you can put in paleo in there as well.

health blogs to read:
charles poliquin
marks daily apple
underground wellness (his youtube channel and radio show have a ton of expert interviews, very legit stuff)

The nuts and dried fruit from nutsonline is a step above what I can find locally.

Suggestions (based on what I tried and liked):

Supreme Roasted Mixed Nuts
Deluxe House Mix
Veggie Chips
Sesame Sticks
Dried Strawberries
Organic Raw Cacao Goji Energy Squares
Crystallized Ginger

should make sure you're eating those nuts raw/organic...pasteurized shit is basically eating a negative food...takes away more than it gives you

You should tell Greg to fix the comma in their Title of BeefJerky.com :P

I wouldn't say that I do a true paleo diet, but I am very close. I can't tell you how much better I've felt since I've started. I guess something happens when one cuts out taco bell and pop tarts, and for me it was to the tune of 30 pounds and crazy energy when I do my hikes. It's been awesome.

I've been doing the paleo thing for a few weeks now. Its not 100% paleo because I still have some milk nearly every day (coffee addiction) and eat legumes a few times a week. Overall though, just staying away from bread/pasta and eating a lot more veggies has me feeling way better, less bloated and more clear-headed.

My preferred quick snacks are tins of flavored tuna and jerky.

A really simple and delicious meal is a big omelette with onions, bacon, spinach and tomato. Can prepare and cook it in 5 mins. Add other green veggies if you want.

Wtf is a paleo diet... to lazy to look it up and the first site just says eat like hunters.

Paleo, low carb, aktins, slow carb, it's pretty much all the same.

No starchy carbs or refined sugar or dairy or beans. Lots of meat and some vegetables. Fat is okay (great even). That's it in a nutshell. Some will include sweet potatoes and tubers as well.

Honestly, I mostly noticed how much better my shits were. It normally takes me about 12.5 minutes on average to shit, and now it's down to about 5. Other than that, I felt about the same, when I was completely paleo.

These days I'm giving myself cancer with caffeine free diet sodas and bloating up w/ rice and using a wrap for my lunches with the occasional slice of bread here and there. (It's a pain to find a place that will have big enough leafs to use for sandwiches mostly)

I'm more gluten free/low sugar now than pure paleo, but yeah it's basically eating whole foods minus the whole grains thing.

I'm not paleo but I eat no refined sugars at all, ever, and haven't for ~6 months. Also haven't eaten wheat flour (with a few exceptions, ever) in ~8 months, but that's mostly because the shit makes me super itchy. And I follow bunch of other general rules that are purely grounded in science (see below).

Nutrition is an incredibly personalized thing. If you don't feel well often and doctors aren't giving you good enough results, don't jump at a fad diet but definitely look into specialized diets. If you're a science-oriented guy like me, Google "FODMAPS". Otherwise Google "elimination diet." These are good starting points; it's really not a bunch of voodoo, but rather is just new, and yet simple, science. A lot of it has to do with fermentable mono- and polysaccharides (read: sugars).

It's true that "not eating taco bell and McDonald's" will make a huge difference to the way most people feel, but it should also be noted that "what's safe to eat" is often very, very counter-intuitive (read: moderate fruit, bread, etc). Again, Google "FODMAPS" for more information.

When you do Google this stuff, you'll find that it relates mostly to people with IBS. Don't let this dissuade you - IBS is not a "real thing". It's a disease by exclusion: if doctors can't find out what IS wrong with you but you say you feel like shit, BAM, you have IBS. Good job, medicine.

When you add up the stats, 1-in-5 americans self-reports IBS. In some countries it's 1-in-2 people. When you tally up food intolerances, almost everyone has one or more (scientific fact). This means that there's something (I guarantee) that if you eat "too much" of, you'll feel like shit. On one hand, this is to be expected - our bodies are insanely complex. On the other hand, the modern diet is clearly a little bit fucked.

You are what you eat. It makes simple sense. Read up a bit on nutrition and the FODMAPs concept and it will make a world of difference in your life. For most of you.

I don't normally write about stuff like this, but this is a pretty important issue to me and, while it's taboo, I know that it resonates well with about half of the people reading it, so I don't give a shit. Also worth Googling: Invisible Disability . Basically, we don't talk about medical problems and it's taboo to have them but, get this, HALF of people in the US have a chronic medical problem. You're perfectly normal. Really. Don't worry about it so much. Also, stop scratching that.

Science rules.

G1C9 knows what the fuck is up. I'd be willing to bet that something like 7/10 in our country (fuck, If 72 million people are obese) people have leaky gut and something like 3/10 have at least one parasite (most likely being H. Pylori).

Elimination diet is most DEFINITELY the way to go if you want to be as exact as possible. When I started working on this stuff back in January I found out (due to a permeable gut/low mucosal barrier function, aka leaky gut) I had 28 food intolerances. Something interesting is that mucosal barrier function also ties into allergies like pollen, dogs, cats, etc.

I could write a whole fuckin' book on all of the shit that was wrong with me that I have since fixed, but the point of the story is:

I stopped eating gluten, processed foods, dairy, and not only do I feel, think, sleep, and look better (in every sense of the word), I also no longer am allergic to cats.

The amount of problems that your average american has due to eating SAD (the standard, piece of FUCKING GARBAGE that is told to us is "healthy"), and honestly, most big diseases/health issues can be fixed just by fucking fixing the foods you eat. It really is not that hard -- there's a lot of good information out there. I think the best place to start would be Marks Daily Apple.

It's funny, I'm sure a lot of people thought they were bad when they were getting away with shady shit with rebills...that kind of stuff is nothing compared to the government-backed fraudulent bullshit that our food industry feeds us every day. To call it "mind-blowing" is a massive understatement. To call it a massive understatement is a massive understatement.

brown rice, chicken breast, guacamole, and a tiny bit of lowfat cheese. That's all I've eaten for the past 3 months and I've lost 20 pounds. amidoinitrite?

Really. Don't worry about it so much. Also, stop scratching that.

I do itch alot. I eat wheat a ton, makes me shit nice. Before I ask google for the answer..........is this because?

If you are looking for solid advice on food/nutrition, look up Weston Price. He's the Godfather of all things nutrition/diet: Journal - Weston A Price Foundation. He's a dentist from the 1930's who studied remote tribes around the world and found that those tribes that lived on a "primal diet" had almost no disease and were more healthy than those living in developed countries. Eye-opening stuff..

He recommends eating grass-fed beef, grass-fed butter, cod liver oil, and a bunch of other foods you wouldn't expect to be all that healthy (sardines, pate, fish eggs). I've adopted some of the things he recommends in my diet and I've noticed big improvements in energy and overall health.

Basically 95% of what the media tells you is good for you is actually shit. By switching to a raw or primal diet you can see some big improvements in health.

Current Diet:

Breakfast: red bull
lunch: taco bell/burger king/pizza hut or similar
snack: chips or candy bar
dinner: meat + carb or bowl of life cereal

I chew tobacco, drink 3-4 energy drinks daily, eat ice cream regularly and drink alcohol 3 times per week.

I'm planning on doing a little clean-up.

Breakfast: Veggie omelette + 2 cups of coffee
Lunch: meat + veggie ( need a couple of ideas for quick preparation that I can bring with me to the office ? )
Snack: beef jerky or protein shake + greens
Dinner: meat + veggie + fat
Snack: beef jerky or protein shake

paleoexperts, thoughts?

Thanks
