QFT.He said Innovation, not Invention. Sure, Apple didn't invent the mouse, but they did improve on the technology and brought it to the forefront, mass marketed it & made it affordable enough to the general public, just like the iphone + ipad. That's innovation.
His genius was the ability to recognize good ideas that are poorly executed, such as the GUI demonstration at Xerox PARC laboratories that was the inspiration for Macintosh. He never settled for "good enough" or second best, and drove his staff crazy delivering amazing products that set the standard for the rest of the industry.
I am not only sad about his death, I am concerned about the future of my favorite technology company. Will they rest on their laurels, or can they keep innovating? When Apple rolled out a new product, you were usually looking at where the technology industry will be going for the next few years.
Even for those of you who hate Apple: your PC and most of your gadgets were inspired by Apple products.
