Occupy Wall Street

Ventura is the fuckin' man.

He mentions that no other elected official has attended these protests, so these people must be doing something right. Of course, it'd be hard for a politician to get behind something like this when they know it could cut into their campaign funds.

Makes me question if this is really all lefty bullshit, or if that's all the media is giving us.

These fuck bags just knocked on my front door looking for a donation.

Definitely a scam.

One of those notes from a small business owner states it perfectly, "I am the American dream". That's what it's all about, being an entrepreneur, taking risks, and building something for yourself. People complain that there aren't enough jobs but if there were more small business owners growing their companies they would be employing a whole lot more people. No one wants to work hard though grinding it out 18 hours a day struggling to get something off the ground. They'd rather just put in their 7 hours doing sweet fuck all and collecting their $20 an hour and loading themselves up to the eyeballs in debt.

I hope guys like these 53%ers take the Occupy Wall Street crowd to town and I hope they get tons of media exposure doing it. Enough whining already.

So I wanted to identify this guy and write him an open letter on one of my properties. Basically, telling him that he's clearly got a head above all the other lazy morons that are around him,

and he needs to become one of US - the GOOD AND MORAL 1-percenters who are going to build huge followings, make money, and then DO something with that money. Cuz let me tell you what - preaching to the choir isn't gonna solve anything.

Voting Ron Paul isn't going to do anything. People need to be making phone calls; knocking on doors of the baby boomers (who are truly getting screwed by both parties / the fed and don't even realize it). But right now he only has 24 hours in a day - 8-12 realistically.

He is an army of ONE right now. Sure, he's got other protesters there, but how many of them really understand WTF he's talking about and can explain it in NORMAL terms? Not many. This group has not "crossed the chasm" one inch.

He needs to build up his audience, make his money, recruit his legions (and they can't all be white 20 year olds), EDUCATE THEM and then unleash them - it might be until 2016 until there's a real difference.

He needs to join my side. I DO want to be a 1% - I have no problem admitting it. But I know that it takes more than posting about Ron Paul on my facebook feed. I know that you can't affect jack shit by being a peon on the street, complaining about bankers. Look at the people around him there! They're pathetic and don't TRULY get it! He needs to educate them.

You affect things by become as powerful as those bankers and media moguls, educating the masses, and unleashing hell.

And so on and so forth goes my letter.

But then I realized that he has over 180,000 Youtube views within 4 days.

So I decided not to write that open letter... because I guess maybe he has done more in a few days than I could in years. Hmm.

Don't you find it terribly ironic that you want to be one of those that these people are protesting against?

You can be in the 1% and still voluntarily support those who are truly less fortunate, as well as not trying to pollute politics for personal gain...or at least I'd like to think so.

But anyway, what income constitutes the top 1%? Am I correct in that it's only ~$300,000?

Crynos: My understanding is that you have to make more then $535,000 a year to be in the top 1%

Not at all. I do want to make changes, I don't support the fed/big agri/big pharma, and don't vote for anyone who does.

But I know that I personally don't have the power to do shit if I'm making $35,000/year and look like 99% of THOSE activists do. Sitting in the street isn't being productive for anyone.

You need to fight fire with fire, and that means with money.

Kind of what happened to most of the anti-war protesters and hippies that were protesting Vietnam? Talk to anyone in that age group (young baby boomers) and they'll say "they had to grow up eventually".

What'd most of them do? They got a job for the very man they were protesting.

So my point is, these kids will eventually fall in line too, once they realize that they too need to grow up. I'd hope that there were a few more Elon Musks in the world that can show people that there's better ways of doing things.

That's what I aspire to be - and it ain't gonna be done wearing a hoodie and standing in the street. It's done by hustling now and empowering/educating later.

Or so I believe.

PS - Finally launching my site that has Ion eXtra featured on it :)

These kids should be wearing Patagonia clothes and the like if they're serious. Now that's a cool company - not a bad book either (Let My People Go Surfing).

Berto - the fact is that you have more power to make change than you think. The problem is allocating the time and the will. All of us would rather make money than make change. You could make a network of authority news magazines that would manipulate the public into understanding and seeing the world your way. You could do it. Get ranked for major news stories, every day, create more authority, etc. But we do not because we would rather make money. Of course Huffington banked hard on her site.

Change is easy. You live in CA - it is simple to put things on the ballot, too simple really.

The reason these people are so effective is that while the rest of us want to be left alone and live our lives, they want to change everyone's life and interject themselves.

By the way, I wonder how many at the OWS gatherings are from unions and Soros' progressive organizations?

Dude, that's exactly what I'm saying. I AM Building up a network of websites like that.

While none of them are going to say "END THE FED" but they are gonna say something that aligns with one of my generation's battles.

This kid effectively has 12 hours a day to make calls, knock on doors, or occupy wall street. He goes to college (hah) in Staten Island (double hah). He's too intelligent to settle for that.

He needs to make time work FOR him, not against him. Getting that YouTube video so much press is certainly one way of doing it. Now while he's protesting, his video is as well. Drop out of college and take it further, kid!

Preaching to the choir solves nothing. Me and you bickering about libertarianism on wickedfire dot com, where a clear majority of us are young small business owners, does nothing.

Ron Paul doesn't get elected because Ron Paul supporters don't know how to speak normal English to anyone over the age of 45 (and sell to their needs), nor do they truly try. Guerilla's stated so much too.

Maybe if the hipsters didn't put $40k in student loans toward a degree in basket-weaving or talking to animals they wouldn't be in such a shit situation.

Hedges: No way in US system to vote against banks - YouTube

You are showing an interview on a site funded by the Russian federation and interviewing a fellow at The Nation a self described "flagship of the left" - and somehow you think we are talking out of our asses?

All of this talk of the Tea Party origins - sources please.

And corporations....hmmm.... who owns the corporations? The stockholders. Who are the stock holders? You and I. The pension plans, the mutual funds etc. You really believe there is some evil force running the corporations?

I have heard, though I have no foundation for it other than knowing a person that was federally indicted for it, that the leaders of the corporation must make all decisions for the benefit of the shareholders.
