Try ppc on adbright, if you test enough you will get results. Be willing to invest some in the beginning though (or have someone to give you good tips).
I've ran a few small campaigns on adengage and they all ended up with profit. Adbrite is better because I *think* you get more visitors from the U.S. compared to adengage.

Everybody (for the most part) will say every niche is "over saturated"
the only way for you to find that out is for you to test it yourself. there is money to be made in EVERY niche regardless of your size of business. will some require more work? hell ya. but dont worry about your budget or over saturation too much. Find an offer that you have a general interest in or have knowledge about. Sit down with a pen and paper ( i use NotePad) to brainstorm (call your mom) 50 ways to market that offer, sleep on it and then pick 10-15 killer and cost effective methods off that list to focus on.
When i started affiliate marketing my first two months i made $X,XXX without spending more than $100. It was def. hard work and took ALOT of time but the learning experience was excellent and the knowledge i gained was worth 100x any of the money i received.
tip: look for newer sites to advertise on that get moderate traffic and ask for and "introductory rate" on advertising. then say "if the quality works out I'd may be interested in 6 month deal". this will give you very cheap advertising and help you get some money in your pocket.

Only problem with brainstorming is that if I literally think of anything regarding anything critical such as content for landing pages or websites, marketing tactics, ideas, etc.. my brain literally shuts down. I've actually punched myself in the head many times. I end up in this zone without any thoughts and no direction. I'm not making up a metaphor, I'm dead serious.
I can't think of anything so I make retarded posts and questions. I'm at the point, where if somebody doesn't hold my hand and show me exactly what they did, I won't succeed. Anything I do always leads to failure. This isn't only with affiliate marketing, my life in general. Anyway, guess I'm off topic and frustrated. There are some people trying to guide me in the right direction, hopefully I won't fuck up as always.
It isn't all about the money, it's the lack of ideas and just being good at what you want to do and accomplish. Just the general lack of self-worth.

Man your problems run way deeper than affiliate marketing... and without trying to sound like a f'in therapist, you need help.
Try to reevaluate why you want to do affiliate marketing. Sure there is alot of money in it but there is alot of money in selling houses. It's not easy money (for most) and it does take TONS of work (i work 10-15 hours daily) but it is rewarding.
Just find out what you enjoy doing in life, besides punching yourself, and go after that, the money will come. (unless you enjoy being a monk or inmate)

Don't have the talent to write article? Get someone to do it. You can find many articlewriters that can give you a good 500 word article for $7 to $10. Do'nt think too much about the quality, just start somewhere.
Can't make a landingpage? Check if datinggold has premade landingpages or get someone to do it for you. If you see one of my landingpages now you will laugh to death at the amateurish look, but it has made me $50 so far today so guess I have a reason to laugh too. I'll improve it later this week but at least i do have a landingpage.
Anyway... basically my point is to just start doing something instead of thinking about it, you can have a landingpage/domain/article/keywords by sunday, set a deadline and just do it for once. You'll learn along the way.
