Then base it on the fact that Michael Bay is allowed to make movies....and people actually watch them.
People around the world watch his movies. I agree they suck, but lots of shitty directors are "allowed" to make movies.
Two questions:
1. Are you an American?
2. Have you ever traveled or lived in any other countries?
I only ask because it always seems like it's the people who have never lived abroad, and therefore have no point of reference, who are always such experts on the ignorance of Americans and how fucked up America is. Either that, or it is Europeans who have never even been to America and really don't know any Americans.
Look, I'm an American and I travel internationally for a living (internet moniez is a side thing for me). I currently live in Malaysia because my wife is a Malaysian and all her family is here. I have also lived other places in Asia and Europe. I actually haven't been back to the US in two years. This, however, does not reflect my feelings towards the states. I'm just too busy hustling in Asia to find time to go visit. Every country has its ups and downs. I hate things about the US, just like I hate things about Malaysia. When I lived in California I absolutely hated the DMV and cops. I also think our political and tax systems are fucked. Not to mention Social Security, and that whole mess. I ABSOLUTELY HATE that the US is the only developed nation to not provide a socialized healthcare system. That almost makes me embarassed to be an American.
I've also lived in Brunei where the government provides everything including big houses and education. No joking, you can get your PhD and it's free (but it's like this in Cuba as well, they just have less money). I also found their government to be fucked up. My job requires me to interview the top government officials (usually ministers, sometimes a prime minister or president), so I really got fed up with the morons they have running their country.
There are a lot of things I miss about America, like a strong work ethic and intelligent conversations. Yes, there are intelligent people in the US, you just need to find them and surround yourself with them. Sorry, I know this turned out to be a long rant (which I didn't plan for), but it pisses me off when people go off on how shitty the US is or how ignorant Americans are based on our Media. That's like all the idiots who said they hate America because G-dubb was our president. "You don't have to beleive in your government to love your country, just believe in your country," or some shit like that. I'm not going to look up the exact quote now.
