SC Republican Debate

My thoughts on how each candidate performed:

Paul - typical, average performance. Not good for him.

Romney - bolstered support for the free enterprise movement despite being pretty well attacked about Romneycare. Good debate for him.

Santorum - he's actually doing well given the low amount of credibility/funding he's received. Tonight went well for him.

Newt - the crowd clearly liked him and he really got things started, but by the end of the debate I forgot his name. Average performance, no shot at the title.

highly disagree.

paul, although he was his same old self, actually got to answer some meaningful questions in regards to his campaign. im a bit biased but i would say he won the debate, with newt a close second.

I thought tonight was a huge disappointment for romney, the crowd really wasnt that into him, and a lot of voters may switch their vote after tonight.

santorum - why is this guy still running?

Yeah the vote tomorrow is going to be extremely close.

agreed

I've been watching the CNN post debate recap for 40+ minutes now and somehow they have managed to bring up:

Romney: 87 times
Gingrich: 82 times
Santorum: 76 times
Ron Paul: 0 times

They have literally avoided even saying his name. Nothing. Zero. I know I shouldn't be surprised at less coverage but holy fuck not a single mention?

They've been like that with him since the whole thing with Dana Bash a couple weeks ago.

Just started watching this debate.

I can't believe that Newt got a standing ovation immediately..

Did you guys catch the last question of the night? Something about SC has to decide if they want to vote for one of you or if they want to vote for Romney... WTF?

post talk in the morning on popular morning shows and there is no mention of Ron Paul.

I on purpose tuned into several of them just to see if this would happen, none of the popular morning new shows even mentioned his fucking name.

what a sham

Did he actually win the debate? Probably.

Did he win it in the eyes of voters? Hellllll no. Religious loons coons and people in the boonies have no idea what economics or the business cycle is, and they don't care to know about it either. This is Paul's entire campaign.

SC is one state of many. Romney delivered his message well.

santorum - why is this guy still running?

Because he won in Iowa and is doing well?

These debates are unwatchable for me anymore... it's like an episode of Jerry Springer with the nonstop cheering and booing.

"We should make black kids work as janitors! " :: CHEER AND APPLAUSE ::
":: random lie about Obama:: Anyone on this stage would be better! " :: CHEERS AND APPLAUSE
"We should scale back our military and end the wars" :: BOOOOOOO!!!! ::

Agreed. I pay a lot of attention to this process, and I stopped watching the debates months ago. I can barely stomach the Ron Paul highlight clips.

That said, he was masterful last night and earlier in the day at the college of Charleston. I've never seen him that under control during this cycle.

^^^ How can you not love this man? He's speaks more plain truth in 5 minutes than any President will speak in a month.

If Ron Paul got equal coverage, he would be winning this thing.

That's not the fan in me speaking, I really feel that is a truth. Everything he has done thus far has come while being ignored or lied about or attacked or undermined.

With the wind at his back, he'd sweep Obama right out of the White House if for no other reason than people are sick of liars and politics as usual.

I agree. If he softened his foreign policy stance a little, I think he would win. However, I wouldn't want him to do that because then he wouldn't be Ron Paul. He'd either be just another lying politician, or he'd be another warmonger. I couldn't stomach either so I'm willing to keep donating knowing he won't win. The message needs spreading and he's the one to spread it. He has changed the discussion in this country more than any politician in my lifetime and that alone is worth our support.
