It is a pickle isn't it? When something like this makes me feel crappy I try to pollyanna the situation. So it does make me feel a bit better that, even though so many things suck about this country, and it's so far from where it should be, it's still has the potential to be greater than any other country just by it's very foundation.

Most Walmart employees are on welfare because that fucking company doesn't pay a living wage. Naturally you see a lot of miserable fucks using foodstamps there; the company encourages its employees to get on welfare.

If it wasn't for a couple of lucky breaks, you might have been in the same boat.

lol at the anger. Nobody is forced to work there. Walmart does a great service - it gives jobs to losers who probably wouldn't work at all otherwise.

I struggled and worked 60-100 hours a week for five years to make it. That was five years of cold calling, door knocking, spending under 20 a week for food, and barely making rent on the months I wasn't actually late. Seeing my friends hang out and get real jobs while I stayed at home in a studio apt on Sat building a business all the while lying through my teeth on facebook pretending I was already successful.

Yeah, lucky fucking breaks.

You're what's wrong with the world, you look at a fucking expert, wealthy individual, or world class athlete and totally ignore the blood, sweat, and tears to get there.

Such discussions always go the "taxes should be distributed differently" roughly 2 posts into the thread.

Taxes should not happen at all. The notion of paying taxes is equal to claiming that some authority knows better how to invest money, which is not only wrong but high immoral. You are in favor of taxes or youre not. Where they go doesnt matter.

Governments will always assume some kind of right to distribute wealth or shape opinion. Thats the job. If it had no merits nobody would want to do it. Such stuff always draws the wrong kind of people in.

The only reason we dont have riots in germany is because the shitheads we send to univserity for dont have to pay for it and can live on 1k+ a month welfare after. The millions of useless liberal arts degrees they get arent any different from the ones you produce in america.


If you want out of the system, get out of the system. Pack your shit and move to singapore. Bring your business there. As long as you dont sell to singaporeans, they wont tax you at all.

If youre american and have to get rid of that shitty citizenship, you first need a second one. Thats difficult. There are panama based lawyers that dont have to deal with bs rules who can get you out relatively fast.
 
All resources used in the production of goods and services are scarce. Thus, it follows that allocating resources to Project A siphons resources away from Projects B, C, D, etc. In funding welfare, the state must decide how to allocate resources in light of their scarcity.

Question for supporters of welfare: how can scarce resources be allocated among competing projects in a manner that is economically rational? For example, how can you determine which of the following represents the best use of limited capital?

1. pay welfare to Group A
2. build 100 elementary schools
3. fund expansion of fighter jet inventory
4. build a moon base

If you can answer the question correctly, there is hope for you (again, talking to supporters of welfare). Only then is it worthwhile to demonstrate the reasons welfare is unjustified and economically irrational. After all, why play chess with someone who doesn't even understand how to move a rook?

True, although it's not governments acting alone. It is mob rule where the majority vote to confiscate other people's property for their own benefit using the government as their enforcer.
