Hiding personal info online

Just realized how easy it is to stalk people off one tiny piece of info about them, for example you can actually take the name of any of the iphone apps I've made, search to find company name, then search to find company owner's name, then search to find home address, etc. I backtraced all of my own info in about 2 minutes just starting with the name of 1 app.

So I got paranoid about it and removed myself from most of the whitepage sites, even set up some fake Facebook profiles, LinkedIn profiles, and other shit with my name and a bunch of different fake pics and phone numbers just to confuse people. I even removed myself as the listed manager of my own company and put my friend's name instead (because he has security at his building and I don't, just to hide myself even more).

I don't like the idea of people being able to easily find you and stalk you but I haven't really found a surefire way to get around it, aside from buying a house in someone else's name or some crazy shit. Have any of you had issues with people tracking you down because they didn't like one of your sites, products, whatever, and are there good ways to hide yourself from the general public and/or stuff up the search results with even more bullshit to make it a lot harder for people to find info on you?

Are you kidding, I'm glad information is so readily available, makes it easy to do background checks.

I think it's a better use of time to build your reputation than it is to find a way to shield it. It's extremely easy to leave footprints behind, much harder than it is to cover them all.

It's not an issue with reputation, it's more about hiding my personal contact info from end users. When you have millions of people using your shit it only takes the 1 in a million crazy person to start looking you up, and seeing as you can easily find my parents' personal info as well after you know mine, I don't want to risk that.

My arrest / mugshot information recently appeared on a mugshot site from when I was a minor and got arrested for telling someone I'd kick their ass. Recently as in the past week so I clicked on their Remove Record process and they wanted me to submit a bunch of paperwork and shit saying it was either dismissed or what not. I didn't have any of those papers from almost 10 years ago and don't even remember exactly what the court end result was.

I just emailed them and asked if they could remove or I could pay to remove. They ended up removing it for free due to the age I was at the time of the arrest.

But I found out there's a shit ton of sites that charge you $400-$1200 to remove your mugshot from these sites. Mugshots - Mugshots.com - Find Mugshots Online. Official Records, Criminal Records, Arrest Records They claim to have some special process but this wired article says they simple pay the mugshot site $15 thru a backend Paypal checkout and it's removed in like 10 minutes.

On a side note I started searching for people I knew in the past various names of friends etc and found out a guy I went to school with is on their for MURDER, he shot 3 women killing one.

I'd say you can just use your common sense. Create a generic company, delete your facebook and any other social website on earth, remove you personal site and hide everything you can. Put everything in the generic company name and your done.

Try making products people won't want to find and kill you for?

ha ha ha ha ha...

@ the OP. I think you just need to stop posting your real data unless you want to get it seen. Try to get a business name, and replace everything you can using it instead of your real name. Eventually, you will reduce the probability of being found.

There was some post on BHW about someone saying he was completely anonymous or something like that. Then some guy on there named Wrangler posted an aerial shot of his house taken from google maps... LOL dude was like wtf... Shit got real bros

LOL.

I only have experience with BB and Android but neither of those require you to put a real company name in.

Random company name, private whois on domain or just a gmail address and your good to go. Surely Apple doesn't force you to use real name/registered company name?
