Spent a good chunk of my younger life raving (early 90's), and most of the raves here (Toronto/surrounding cities) were big, multiple rooms, and the music different in each. You'd usually find me in the DnB room and back then reggae/urban jungle (now called so many different fucking things) was the hottest shit for anyone who also liked hiphop.
Nowadays it's broken down into so many sub genres but back then dubstep was simply slow breaks (hiphop either slowed down 70'ish bpm or sped up to 140'ish to beatmatch a house beat), DnB was jungle, the lounge room always played ambient, Rotterdam was the shit for about an hour (I remember one dude DJ Dominic averaged like 4 passouts per set, his shit was like 180+bpm).
Here's a few oldies I LOVE: A lot more soul to it back then, now shits chopped/screwed way too much, evolving in tech but devolving in spirit imo.
