Is there any kind of site selling computers that's based there? It seems stupid to have to send it to the other side of the globe.

Online shopping is not common. I've used PC Corner before, so can vouch for them: PC Corner Online
Prices seemed high in the Philippines when I was shopping for a laptop.

Hey brah!

Here's the answer you've been looking for..

I shipped a Laptop in the Philippines 3 months ago and I paid nothing :) My Friend in the Philippines however paid all the shipping cost.. I think he paid 1,600 Philipine currency to get the 5.8 lbs mac and I think that's only $30-$40 (i think)

Look here on this site brah

The items will arrive in 7 days man! Also that's good because the Package will not pass through customs (if it did it will take you 1 month to get em). It will go straight to your VA or by pickup on their branches in the Phil. Mine was picked up cause it will take and extra 5 days if he will have it delivered on his door.

You should call them directly for their managers to talk to you on how much exactly it will cost you or the VA. My bet would be around $250-$350 and if you go through LBC or UPS it will cost you double. I think you can pay all the shipping cost here or the VA will pay in the Philippines. Either work bothways. Hope it helps man!

you can buy anything you need there.
tons of places to buy computer stores..i have friends in manilla if you need any pointers.

I just calculated shipping because I was planning on giving him this really nice computer I have laying around and the shipping cost, no joke, was $4,345.

Lol.

Find a balikbayan box shipper. Filipinos use them to send boxes full of random crap back to the Philippines. Filipino stores/markets supply the boxes and act as a drop off point around here.

It should cost around $120 max to get a decent size box with unlimited weight shipped to anywhere in the philippines from the middle of the USA, often less than $100 to metro manila. It takes a few weeks to arrive though because they are transported by container ship.

Here is one near Denver...

Colorado Forwarders Express, LLC

I already told him, he can buy a computer online for $300 in Manila, and he can give his VA $40 for a taxi to go pick it up.

Way cheaper than shipping all around the world.

I just posted the balikbayan box shipping option because he talked about already having a computer sitting around to ship. He can probably get it to the guys front door for about $100 or less that way if the VA is in manila, slightly more anywhere else.

$40 is way too much for a taxi, the drivers don't even try to scam foreign tourist that badly when they leave the meter off. :hollering:

Ok, here's what you'll need to do: Put the PC in a box, with a nonexistent address written on the box, and VA's address as the senders address. Then sneak to an UPS/DHL car while nobody's watching and drop it in there. They'll have to return it to the sender  Totally fail-proof.
