I have a few vanilla visa cards from various things, and rather than spend them I'd prefer to transfer the money to my bank somehow. I tried using them to buy things from my own PayPal store (so I could get the money in PayPal then transfer it to my bank) but vanilla visa doesn't work with PayPal and they just rejected them. Is there any other way to do this?

@momchil No, just the regular ones from grocery stores, gas stations, etc.

@music No, when you try to use a vanilla visa on paypal it rejects it immediately. Not sure where you're getting your information because my account rep has said in the past that you are allowed multiple business accounts, although that doesn't really have anything to do with this.

Basically I'm looking for a payment processor that does accept these cards, so I can make an account there and set up a little store then buy stuff from myself with the cards.

Can't you use them at an ATM? I've done that with giftcards I've been given before, been years though.

I did this yesterday with a vanilla visa. You may be right about multiple business accounts, it doesn't really matter though. You have to register the card at vanillavisa.com and make sure you use they correct zip code. That's the only part of the address they verify. If you do this it will work.

I registered them with the zip code but they still don't work. Is there something else you need to do?

idk, I've never had an issue and have done this a few times. The account I added the card to had a real credit card on it as well, but I'm pretty sure I've made a new account with nothing but the Vanilla Visa on it and used it as well.

I just made a new account and linked one of the giftcards. Bought something from myself and it worked perfectly, then tried to buy something else and got this error:

"
You cannot use this credit card for this transaction. Please use another funding source.

  • You will need to add and confirm your bank account. Once your bank account has been added and confirmed, you can continue this payment. Add your bank account information below."
(there is still money left on the card)

can you use vanilla visa the same as any other visa? Do you ahve to provide SSN, or any other identification to get one? what's the max limit on them? would be great for some offshore shit

You don't have to provide any info to get one. The downside is the billing address associated with it is just a zipcode, not a full address, so it doesn't work on some websites.

Works on any site that doesn't verify with AVS, although it seems like I read that it had to be used in the US. I haven't tried on any site outside of the US though. Like mentioned above, no proof of identity required for these.

Get the square app on your phone. Charge the balance remaining, and it will deposit to your acct in a day or two. You'll have to pay like 2% or so but if you want it that bad, go for it.

Just tried it and I guess gift cards don't work with Square either. Every time I try it says "Error: Unable to process."

btw, I don't know if this works in the US, here you can go to a super market and buy something, then when you go to pay, you just say to the cashier to charge w/e it is in your balance and give it to you.
