Good info. Gov't propaganda has a lot to do with it. I'm not entirely convinced that sun exposure causes skin cancer. I think it might be the consumption of hydrogenated oils + sun exposure. Congrats on getting better!

Not to take this off topic, but I'm always interested in hearing new theories. Why do you think there would be propaganda against vitamin D?

Oh, I meant propaganda against sun exposure. I'd be interested to find out if any of the skin cancer studies have been funded by sunscreen companies.
 
How did you first notice the problem OP?
I just used to get those really bad sore throats quite often and I never felt 100%. I was also having some bouts of dizziness (not sure if related to D) so my doctor gave me a full blood test, and I asked him to check vitamin D out of curiosity. He didn't really believe in it, said it's something old people have to worry about but not me. Got the results and it was off the charts low, everything else was fine though, I changed doctors since that too. You can't trust em!

I think he means propaganda against sun exposure, especially here in Australia where we have the highest rates of skin cancer in the world.

Can I ask how old you are and if you've had a complete hormone profile done?

I'm 25, haven't had a hormone profile done. I am very curious about it though, I bet my T is low.

For billions of generations man has lived on earth without skin cancer. There are still billions around the world that don't have access to "SPF blah blah" protection creams and they still have low incidents of skin cancer.

So what changed in the last 100 or so years? Diet perhaps?

We started travelling around the planet. Black skin offered protection from the sun in Africa for example, then we moved to the cloudier regions and skin evolved less melanin to absorb more UV rays presumably to produce more vitamin D. Then with ships and planes we move back to places with extreme sunlight and white skin cant handle it.

Look at indigenous Australians, they're dark as fuck. Then paleskins like myself move here and bam skin cancer.

How do we know there wasn't skin cancer? In the middle ages people died of things like "died of staring at a tree". Cancer has been around for a long long time, we just didn't know what it was.
 
I'm 26 and during my last physical the doc asked me if I wanted to be tested for Vit D and I said yes. For the 25 years prior, it must not have been a big deal in the healthcare industry, b/c they never asked me...He also told me to check with my insurance and make sure the test was covered by my insurance as part of the yearly physical/check-up. The results came back that I was severely Vit D deficient. He told me to start taking 5000 IU of Vit D daily for 3 months. Also, OP, you can get 5000 IU in one small ass pill (what I take)

I feel soooooooooo much better now (8 mos later). I have more energy, feel stronger, and havent been sick since like the OP (I used to get sinus infections and head colds all the time).

Remember D3 is what you need, not the other forms of Vitamin D for which you could overdose on. I take about 10,000IU almost every day unless its sunny and I've been out.
 
Yeah I'm on D3 5000 IU a day

What I'm wondering now is how long does it take before the D3 fully propagates in the body? I've read that "90 days" is about the time frame but how did they come up with that? I'd like to see more info on that...

Used them before. If you do it, and need help understanding the results.. just join a bodybuilding forum and post results asking for help. On certain BB forums, you can get actual doctors to reply, I guarantee you they give you better advice than most local doctors would. Doctors are fucking idiots when it comes to male hormones... and they're so scared of prescribing male hormones, even if the guy is just barely in acceptable ranges of a retardedly wide scale.... but they'll throw 17 bishes on birth control like it's nothing.

You can overdose on any supplementation form of vitamin D besides from the sun. your body can "cap" how much you get from the sun but it cannot from supplements. And as far as I know pretty much all vitamin D supplements are D3 (and if not, it's probably what you should get but I think I saw D2 once or something but it's almost all D3)
