The guardian comments are nowhere near as bad as Daily Mail.

There just a bit overzealous and self righteous.

The moron quotient is many factors lower.

This guy embezzled millions and stole from the people of an impoverished country to live a life of obscene luxury that he hadn't earned.

Hoarding money is for the mentally weak. It wouldn't be so bad if wealthy people actually used their wealth to further stimulate the economy.

So you people support this guy because he's rich basically. Hes rich because he stole millions and was unbelievably corrupt. But the journalist is bad because he's criticising a rich person?

How is does that make sense in any way?

People in America seem to have an inbuilt solidarity with the wealthy whatever the circumstance.

Fucking hilarious how many people automatically open and spread for corrupt rich people, ignoring the term in the title "corruption".

Honestly white collar crime penalties here need to be increased significantly. At least match drug laws with some mandatory minimums, you can rape millions from honest people and get a few years in jail and still have plenty of time to enjoy the money when you get out.

I totally agree. White collar criminals need to start doing some serious jail time, and not hiding behind the legal structures of corporations. That goes for all industries, from financial and pharmaceutical alike.
