one of them.
I have the old XBOX which is very good especially with XBMC installed but it's a good time for a new console.
What do you think should I get the PS3 or the XBOX 360 ?

Dude.....I just can't bring myself to buy either of those systems.

The PS3 is nice, but there aren't many games on it and many of them suck right now. Plus the Blue-Ray is overrated, but may still win the "format war" for DVDs.

As for the 360, it's cool and all, and has a few good games, but I can't fork over the cash for a system that is maybe most well-know for it's freezing and "red ring of death" issues.(The Red Ring of Death - Xbox) Plus you have to pay for XBox Live.....

I personally know 3 people who had the "red ring of death issue" and they had to send their 360 to MS and get it fixed....and pay to do so.

Dude

I personally know some people who had the red ring of death, but I also know that MS is aware and handling the issue. As for games, currently XBOX 360 has way more games then ps3, but I'm sure it's going to change in the near future. The only thing in my mind is really the price. It's almost double here in the uk. (PS3 is 425 GBP and xbox 360 premium is 270 GBP)

I don't play any video games (where do you guys find the time?) but I do find it utterly hilarious that the same Apple fanboys that bash MS at every opportunity are the same ones that cling to their 360 and bash the PS3.

Of course, it may be even sadder that I don't play video games and I still noticed this.

ha ha ha

I'm actually an Apple "fanboy", never going back to MS. But, the old XBOX was great and especially XBMC (which is open source and got nothing to do with MS), but I'm not bashing PS3 nor the XBOX 360.
You should definitely find some time to play, i know that gaming helps me to take out all the aggressions when I'm angry.

my xbox 360 just broke yesterday for the 3rd time. They do send you a brand new one for free when i breaks though.

I've spent the last hours reading reviews. The most common conclusion is that the PS3 doesn't offer enough titles at this stage and expensive. Other then that people say that the XBOX 360 getting over heated and unstable.
I think I'll go for the PS3. Thank you all guys.

Oh, I wasn't picking on you personally or anything. Just an observation. I think that I'll pick up a PS3 sometime in the Fall to play NCAA '08 when it comes out. But it kinda seems like a waste to spend the money when all I want to play is that one game.

Get a 360 & Wii...your PS3 will collect dust until '08 when games worth a shit start coming out and even then chances are, they will be on the 360 also.

That's a very good point

That's a big issue when you buy a console.
Well.. going back to watch TV "Fight Club" is on.

yeah

Thanks mate, I didn't take it personally, just wanted to share.
I'm actually keen on Halo 3 , but there won't be any MS game on PS3 I'm afraid.

I have all three (360 elite, wii and ps3). I gotta say I'm very disappointed in the ps3. There are a few cool games but over all its kind of lame. The 360 is where its at. Theres a ton of awesome games, if you like first person shooters try battlefield 2 (if you like halo or counterstrike you'll love it). Also, the new transformers game is bad fuckin ass. I also just got darkness for it, thats cool to. I'm also extremely impressed with the WII. It's a blast to play. I was kind of shocked cus most of the games are very kiddy. But the games it does have are huge fun. Especially Zelda and Rayman (funniest game you'll ever play). The only downside to the wii is the price. The console is only about 250 but it costs you at least an extra 250 in just controllers and accessories. My elite costed about the same in the end but i didn't feel as ripped off. Controlers themselves are like 50-60 bucks for just the controller+nunchuck. But totally worth it when playing Mario Party 8. The graphics for the wii sucks balls. Don't ever play paper mario. Its the faggiest game ever. The store i bought it from has a very strict no return policy and i had to tell the guy, fine i'll leave you alone about returning it if you can make it past the 40 min intro dialog without throwing the controller. He returned it. Splinter cell, like all before it, is twice as hard on the wii as it is on the 360. Hell I couldn't even make it past the first training mission that didn't even have any bad guys FUCKERS! Call of duty 3 rocks on either console. its harder on the wii but its also a ton more fun cus you can aim using the remote and shoot (don't try to throw grenades in battle though). If you play to win, play it on the 360. To its credit I've barely played the ps3, its been sitting on the entertainment center for about a month now. There are a few games i plan on playing with it, but if I don't get around to it by the time halo 3 comes out fuck em all, i'll let the dust have it.

Thats my review

I'm TOTALLY with Deliguy here... And no, I'm not a fanboy, but I am also one of the many who was severely disappointed in the PS3. The graphics don't compare to the jaw-dropping graphics of the Xbox360. Plus, Xbox Live is awesome. Sure, it's not free - but hey, if you're a gamer it's worth it!

More and more game developers are turning their noses up at the PS3 as well, as it has proved too difficult to code efficiently on. This means fewer quality games and more mediocre games in larger quantity (as with the PS2, where it seemed Sony's strategy was quantity over quality).

There are lots of awesome games on the Xbox360 however, and pretty much all of them can be enjoyed live in some form or another. The best ones IMO are Call of Duty 3 and Gears of War. Not to mention the excellent Colin McRae Dirt. That is the best looking racing game I have seen in my 20 years of gaming... :D

The "best" looking games on the PS3 look like high-res versions of old Xbox 1 games. Motorstorm looks like Flatout 2 on Xbox 1 (only with higher res) and that flagship FPS title they're so proud of looks like what Prey, Black, and Riddick looked like on the old Xbox (again, only with HD resolution).

You shouldn't worry too much about the red ring of death issue. It was more common in the older versions. The recent production batches have seen extremely few problems.

I thought I posted this earlier but I guess not.

If you are willing to wait a month or so you should get an 360.

Soon, the next generation 360s will begin shipping. These next gen consoles are going to feature the new Falcon core (which runs cooler) and a redesigned mainboard & CPU that should fix the issues the current generation is experiencing (RRoD).

Lastly a price drop for the 360 should be right around the corner. Supposedly all 360 models were suppose to drop $75-100 after an announcement at E3. However, MS decided to postpone the announcement for fearing that people would view the price drop as a way to push out the stock of "bad" consoles.

So in short, if you wait a month or two you should be able to pick a new gen 360 Elite for $399 soon...

cheers

Well PS3 is a bit more expensive but i'd recommend you to buy PS3, at least, its a PS not a PS rip-off by mirosoft (xbox)!!
