The world without the US

Hold the phone... You expect me to go Pay for netflix so I can then go invest in who-knows-how-much time to watch a doc before I can answer on the thread?

I don't know if I should feel special, or just targeted...

Got a link to it elsewhere? How long is it?

Why is this even an issue? The U.S. have done a lot of great things, but just like every country have some blemishes on their record. I'm so sick of hearing some sixteen year old Americans belly aching about how ashamed they are to have been born in the United States. Fuck you, go live in Ethiopia.

Exactly how I feel. If America is so bad, you are free to leave. End of story. If we are so evil why are people still clamoring to get in?

ryanmiller

the only people clamoring to get into the U.S. are the lowly uneducated immigrants.

affluent people are going the opposite direction

please do not regurgitate rhetoric.

thanks

Yeah, about 1,800 out of 310,000,000 people gave up their US citizenship last year.

Sounds like a mass exodus to me ...

I'm not American by the way.

I don't think anyone should be ashamed for living being born here or living here now.

It's good, however, to condemn bad (government) actions and disassociate from them.

Because the rest are trapped by the system-encouraged mass poverty, moron!

In fact, 1,800 sounds kinda high to me... We must have had a really lucky year for creating smart people here!

We are talking about all the supposed affluent people fleeing the country according to bluecoyote you dumbass.

There are over 3 million millionaires in the US.

About 2,500 - 3,000 people gave up their US citizenship over the past 3 years.

Even if you assume every one of these people were affluent, which is not the case, that basically means that less than 1 out of 1,000 affluent people are fleeing the US - which is a number so small it's barely worth mentioning. About the complete opposite of what bluecoyote claimed.

I know you're mentally challenged, thinking that adsense sandcastles are a "bulletproof long-term business model" and all, but even you can't be this dumb ...

I thought you were moving to Thailand already? What the hell are you waiting for?

Oh I'm the dumbass here am I?

bluecoyote never mentioned a number, a percentage, anything... He just said "affluent are going." I did not add to the number, I just mentioned that the media/government/system/man is keeping "the rest" down.

New to english? I can forgive you if you are. Otherwise, You're clearly the dumbass.

You missed my announcement I see. I am in the process of moving now. :2drinkspit:

I am not sure but your reply seemed a little sarcastic which is OK :)

but instead of just coming out with a stupid topical fact like you did which in my opinion is misleading..

just like something Obama campaign would do. :)

would it NOT be better to actually think about this in a different way??

in 2008 235 people gave up their U.S. citizenship

2011 almost 1800 gave up theirs and this reflects people that legally renounced which is a process in it of itself.. its not like you can just go and say I don't want to play any more lol I would say the number of perpetual tourists that live outside the U.S is 10 times as much.

raw numbers comparing to the population is tiny

but truthfully.. if this was a stock I would say this trend is exploding don't you think?????

and I would even go as far to speculate that most if not almost all of them would be affluent people.

this is an alarming trend in my opinion

the only people migrating to the U.S. are lower migrants.. which is fine.

people with affluence and I am not talking about only rich people but people with some net worth seem to be getting the hell out.

I myself have exited years ago to a small country costa rica. and I am seeing in increase of people moving here much more than even a few years ago. I mean normal higher middle income folks.. and these folks are not even bothering to learn how to speak spanish

really fascinating.

does anyone ever think that all these Anti-US documentaries/movements are some sort of very very subtle propaganda to undermine all their accomplishments and rewrite history?

Of the approximately 150k Allied troops that landed on D-Day, half of them were speaking bastardized English.

I love Churchill, and I think he managed his burden probably better than any man could have, but without US intervention in WWII, things would have gone a different way.

World War 2 probably wouldn't have happened if there was no US, because WW1 would have turned out differently. No humiliation of Germany in WW1 = no Hitler.

We'd have fought to a stalemate, but then the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman empires would have disintegrated (as they were in the process of doing).

Then things would probably have carried on has they had for the past few hundred years, with different bits of Europe fighting each other for temporary dominance.

Or perhaps the Soviets would have been more successful, and taken over Western Europe?
