I read it and thought it was a good read, but I didn't think there was anything so enlightening about it that I would call it influential.

I should just throw out a huge recommendation to [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0007256531/ as well as http://www.amazon.co.uk/Influence-Psychology-Persuasion-Robert-Cialdini/dp/006124189X/"]Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces that Shape Our Decisions: Amazon.co.uk: Dan Ariely: Books[/ame] as well as [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Influence-Psychology-Persuasion-Robert-Cialdini/dp/006124189X/"]Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion: Amazon.co.uk: Robert Cialdini: Books[/ame]

While we're on the subject (the first one is easier to read than Influence, and arguably, more interesting in some ways)

my next book is.. oh wait im busy executing in real life #YOLO

Set 30 minutes out of your day to read. You'll be glad you did.

As far as book recommendations, Midas Touch took some time out of his day to post a wealth of information in this thread.

I'm currently reading his 1st recommendation, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and plan to go down his list. He also dug up some great videos worth watching.

Seems a good read, will check it later but I don't think is gonna be "the most influential book" I have read...

Mothafuckas, you need to be reading shit like The Great Gatsby, Catcher In The Rye, To Kill A Mocking Bird, The Alchemist, The Kite Runner....You get a bunch of inspirational shit and analogies like how love will kill you, first person badness, racism, talking to Gods, and flying motherfuckin kites...All that guru nonsense is like reading your horoscope on that back of your newspaper, some jackass is bound to state a fact that hits home.

Can somebody recommend me the most influential book they ever read? After reading this thread I think TMF is 'mediocre' level book with low influence.
In no particular order:

Influential:
The Origin of The Species
Ca$hvertising
(A lot of people are gonna disagree with me on this one, but it's definitely good, although not as a bible to live by) Rich Dad Poor Dad
Influence
Predictably Irrational

Not that influential, but still good:
The Art of War
Of Mice and Men
Lolita
Alice in Wonderland
Kite Runner
A Clockwork Orange

I'd avoid The Republic, I'm 45% of the way through that, and due to a lot of factors, but mainly the fact that there are no speech marks, or "x said", it's pretty difficult to read, since you don't know where 1 person stops talking and the next person starts.

No trolling..But can you explain what you found influential about the Origin of Species? I'm curious.
It's a fair question. :)

Everything. Literally, everything. I see the world differently. I realised that species going extinct is fine, because the species that have more advantages (can run faster, doesn't taste as good, etc etc) will do better. There's loads more, I could rave about it for hours. It may sound basic, and like you already know all that, but it really reminds you of it all, and really does make you see the world in a totally different light.
