Yeah, the updates targets people who rely on Google as their primary source traffic/sales/livelihood. Every now and then, they have to yank your chains. Also, I hope you don't think I'm trolling. I could not be more serious.

not at all, in my short time in this game Ive heard about G algo changes that target specific things but I havent heard this about this one..and I got hammered, I really would like to know what it "targetted" .. your earlier answer was rather vague, no offence but to say it wa aimed at " primary/souce/traffic/livelihood" doesnt help me

I don't know, Penguin didn't affect me (yet) so I haven't tried to figure out what it was targeting. I did observe some empires tumble, but haven't pinpointed exactly why.

I was hinting that it was aimed at people that have Google as the primary traffic source. See, if you increase the sources of traffic going to your site from other avenues, video, social media (LOL), news, press releases, partner companies, guest posting in your niche, etc, you will spread out your reliance.
Doing all of this will show Google that you are in a multitude of places and are therefore an authority. The shear volume of links and traffic your getting will then increase. The problem is you are only focused on one source. So you have to indirectly get that traffic by getting other sources of traffic. Google takes notice, then send you more traffic.
It's like looking at boiling water, if you step back and concentrate on other tasks, the water seems to boil faster. You'll get to a point, where you don't need to rely on Google, and ironically, Google will send you more traffic (since you're building backlinks, create a brand, etc.)

Im a novice ok.... I bought loads of social bookmarks a year ago and it worked wonders for about 2 months ,,,, then G fucked everyone that bought loads of bookmarks, then I bought something else "ALN" .. that was ok for a while.. then they got fucked... so I sat back and thought ok, maybe it isnt a quick buck... so i got, In my opinion a decent site together, no ads no bullshit only affiliate links ( which i tried to hide) and its happened again, the thing is my mate did EXACTY the same thing with his last site and its creaming it with 63K exacts per month ... no joke his site is an image of mine that that got fucked ?? i dont understand?
Down 65 spots total today. :ugh: Thank god, I'm not 100% reliant on search traffic.. Search traffic is only 15% of my volume.

Geezus I remember when I used to do SEO (I still do a bit) and I used to just make ArticlesBase articles and then get Bompa to hit them with his xrumer links - instant money. Gone are those days of yore, time has definitely changed things.
as ccarter said before, social media is a joke, so how do you get good traffic (Volume and quality) I guess it depends on your niche ?
If WordAI can figure out how to spin content that's so ridiculously good (not trolling WordAI, they are great at what they do), why would you assume Google, with their billions of dollars, and 14 years of doing would not be able to figure out reading level, and quality of the content?
