In all seriousness, the only way YOU are going to win in these elections is to profit from them.

i.e. if Turd Sandwich looks like he's going to pull out the W I will be buying the fack out of puts in wind-energy/solar related specialty chemicals companies based in the US.

You aren't going to sway anyone from their values and you aren't going to change the result of either respective party winning. If the world was unicorns and rainbows I'd get to check a box that says, "No Confidence" and skip my way out of the booth with Adriana Lima on one arm. The unfortunate reality is neither candidate is going to satisfy and neither will outperform the glum estimates of their critics.

Bottom line is that when 70 million Americans, who've only gotten to know Romney through attack ads and Jon Stewart, Stephanopolous, etc., saw Romney for himself for the first time - they liked him very much. His performance was historically effective in that debate - your rationale is offically stale.

Almost all of Obama's policies are Bush's policies. All of Romney's policies will be the same. Romney invented Obamacare for crissakes.

Just because Romney is a slick talker doesn't make him any less of a scumbag (even by political standards). I've had the displeasure of seeing this man in action since he was governor of MA and he's just about the worst type of political opportunist you can imagine. He's completely shameless about adopting whatever position seems popular to get himself elected and if you think for a moment he's going to do any of the shit he promises now if he gets elected... I don't even know what to say besides you're a sucker.

I spent October of 2004 in Columbus, Ohio volunteering for ACT (back when I was young and naive). The amount of voter fraud and suppression I personally witnessed or heard about first hand was a fucking travesty. That's not even counting any electronic voter machine shenanigans. I was surprised people didn't set fire to the city that night.

Of course, the real problem is that our system puts the election of a president in the hands of a few hundred thousand ignorant rednecks who vote based on who they'd most like to have a beer with. But still, even the fiction of democracy is a fiction.

Oh, and there's basically two branches of the same party, both of which are out to fuck you. Otherwise, yay team!
