Their support was really good awhile ago. Now it seems like most of them are dumber than a box of rocks. I figured out my own problem as I was on chat support with them... it was something stupid that I should've figured out right away but I overlooked it. The guy on chat spent 40 minutes trying to figure it out and had to get a "higher level" tech guy on the chat to help.

Oh ya, and they rarely pay their affiliate commissions anymore. After 23 emails, I finally was just partially paid for my affiliate commissions from the end of last year.
 
I recently changed my last VPS from hostgator to knownhost because i had a much better experience with KH lately.. We have a few servers there already and if they keep up their great work then all of the new ones in the future will be with them as well..

This was what happened the one time I had to contact HG support (all of my sites had gotten infected by some shit), but ultimately the guy was able to remove it from all of my sites no problem. So, I have no complaints - I can't say whether or not they're good (though judging by all the problems people have with other hosting companies, I'm guessing this is the case) but I've never had a problem with them during my oh-so vast 1 year of having websites.
 
jayknowsshit I have never had a single issue with Hostgator and I've had every type of account there at some point. Their support via chat is the best. If I've ever had a server issue it's usually resolved within 30 minutes. HG gets my 5 diamond award for excellence.
