Why not just print a googol-dollar coin and call ourselves the richest country in the world by a factor of many billions!?
I feel like this thing is going to get some public traction because the public is too stupid to see that it's basically just printing more unbacked money. (Which they somehow still believe is back anyway.)
And just for fun, if anyone wants to make the argument that we can actually back this coin in platinum somehow, let's do the math:
1 ounce of platinum only goes for around $2k. That would require 500 MILLION ounces of platinum... Just in one coin! (41.6 Million LBS!)
And that's just to get us under the debt ceiling. We'd already need 17 of these coins to pay off the national debt!
