Anyone Here Living Car Free?

With a wife and kids, it would be extremely hard, actually impossible to be "car free".

I'm car free in the sense that both vehicles, as crappy as they may be, are paid off...but that's as close to "car free" as we'll ever be.

Can you imagine "okay honey, get the kids, let's all hop on the bikes we're headed 250 miles north to visit my parents".

I guess a horse and buggy would be more realistic, that COULD work...but then you have to take care of the horse, no way.

It's definitely not for everyone...
But there are families that live without a vehicle.

I seen that when the news came out a few weeks ago... lol
I love that "you don't pay taxes!" logic.

It was a critical mass event in Brazil.

I have imagined doing that while stuck in traffic behind the local critical mass group before. I would never really do it though.

Those fuckers are assholes and are hated by cyclists...

99.9% of them never ride a bike unless it's at one of these events because they
think it's cool to block traffic and piss people off and give all bike riders a bad rap.

Peasant spotted?
Funny... In a society that has become so dependent on the oil and car
companies it's not uncommon for people to look at people that use a bicycle
as their main transportation as being poor and/or crazy.
(pretty sad, actually)

I've even been assumed homeless on occasion which I find funny since I ride
around on a $800 bike and about $400 in equipment (GPS, video camera, etc...)

Stop being such a hippie. Most people that own a bicycle ALSO have a car. What you gunna do on a rainy day? What you gunna do in the winter? What you gunna do if you get a gf or any friends?

I ride the stationary bike at the Gym for my warm-ups. I do it just to warm my joints, otherwise it is uncomfortable as fuck. The saddle messes up with arse. I wonder how people can can ride them for long.

I will go Car-free when they have flying cars. Oh Wait!
