Pretty damn cool.

Pre-ordered 10,000. Gonna forget about them until they're worth a fortune. Thanks for the tip.

Wait... not bitcoin? Oh...

I don't think these are that secure. He said that it's secure because it will beep if you walk to far away from it. LOL.

Also their database of all your cards, hope that stays safe.

I'm imagining waiters flipping through all my "cards" too. Swiping the wrong card by accident and over drafting the wrong account.

What if I add my friends credit cards to it?

I pre-ordered one pretty much the second I finished the article and heard that they are already working on EMV (chip tech).

This solves my wallet problem in a sleek and manageable fashion.

So, I actually watched the video...

Isn't this kind of building on something that won't really be around much longer?
Physical cards that swipe?

Aren't people going to be paying with their phones soon, if not already?

Like, https://squareup.com/wallet

Once the pay-with-phone type deal catches on and VISA/MC starts offering a solution, cards will be obsolete.

Am I wrong?

Besides, no Bitcoin and the guy in the video is unconed/faggot.

People will be paying with cards for years to come. Businesses aren't going to tell customers without smartphones to go fuck themselves and most people aren't going to give up their cards completely in favor of something with a battery that lasts less than a day.

Meh, it just seems to me that people who would actually consider adopting this "Coin" deal would be the same type of people who would use their phone to make payments if possible. Is this "Coin" something a non-tech savvy person would adopt?

Yes, some people are never going to give up their cards. But, are those people going to stick all their cards on this card? Or...are they just going to keep on using their cards (Visa, debit, etc) as usual and not adopt any new technology.

It just seems to me that this "Coin" idea isn't really a good one the more you look into it.

And for fucks sake, no Bitcoin. These people clearly aren't thinking about the future.

I feel like this was one of the better ideas to come out of the startup machine lately, I just wish they executed the marketing differently. way too many apps and widgets have debuted with a similar quirky, polished youtube video approach and this just feels like another one of the same.

You're assuming consumers will either choose A or B and never use them as complements. That's nonsense. The phone payment apps and this card are not mutually exclusive products. Until a vast majority of businesses accept phone-based payment consumers will need carry cards. The consumers using phone payment technologies are probably more likely to purchase one of these cards as a complementary payment option.

Bluetooth enabled phones running square is a carder's wet dream. I haven't dug into Coin yet, but as tech progresses and my knowledge of how to break it increases, I find myself becoming more of a luddite.

The troll value of this is hilarious. Anyone can click the button on the card afaict, so you could pull money from all the wrong shit if you're the one taking the payment.

Also, I wouldn't say having too many cards is a real PAIN POINT for people, so it remains to be seen if this actually catches on.
