I'm wanting to start a web design business where I'll be reselling somebody services from another business. Has anyone done this successfully and do you have any pointers for a newbie like me? The company I'm using will be charging ~$100 for a website with html5 and CSS3. I'm just looking for flip it and repeat. I'm not sure the best way to promote my site, maybe craigslist or cold calling. A buddy of mine used to sell used cars and was really good at it so I might enlist him in selling to potential clients. What kind of major headaches will I come across in this business and how can I prepare myself now before I start?

For your troubles...

How can they justify that high of a price? Are you just trolling?

Are you just trolling?

I'm not sure what country you live in but in the US, these are the prices.

It takes a lot of time to meet with the client, find what they want, build a website, add content, get it functional.

$100 HTML5/CSS3 website? lol is it 1 page and hosted on Wix?

$100 would be for a bare bones web page. I realize the more complex the site is, the more it would cost. I live in Texas, the company I would be working with is also in Texas but outsources most of their work overseas. I'm going to try an meet with the company soon to discuss more of the specifics including costs. What should I watch out for or does the initial low cost in general throw up red flags?

So you want to outsource to company who outsources to another overseas company? Why not outsource directly? Anyway, lol at $100 websites.

Yeah that's a good point. Do you think it would be worth the trouble trying to get clients to buy sites or would my time be better spent building my own to promote products instead?

$100 websites? man I've come to learn the cheaper the site, the more headache the client... Website designs start at $5K to 20K in my opinion. But I have no idea what the company is re-selling. Is it a monthly payment of $100 with hosting? That MIGHT make more sense. One time $100... doesn't sound right.

You have to ask where is the content coming from? Images? Videos? Are there upgrades to the packages. Maybe $100 is the bare minimum.

100$ website is gonna be shit.

If you're doing web design or branding projects, but you yourself are not an expert at it the most important thing you can do is hire excellent people and learn Project Management skills on the go.

Yeah it takes more effort, but if you're gonna put in work to acquire clients you should be charging them A LOT more than a few hundred bucks. You can't deliver well if you're charging such basement prices because you'll end up hiring shitty low paid people.

I learned this the hard way when doing a branding project for a client. Thankfully I switched courses midway and got some amazing talent to redo the whole project. In the end client is very happy, and the branding is bomb.
