Tony Stewart hits and KILLS 20-year-old driver Kevin Ward Jr. Aug 9/2014(RAW VIDEO) - YouTube
(Embed won't work)

This is nothing more than speculation.

And I am by far saying Tony Stewart intentionally hit him to kill him.

What I am saying though is it's completely obvious that he intended
to get that close. And If i'm not mistaken - you can hear him
rev up right beforehand to get the rear-end to kick out. Maybe to possibly
just scare the kid, or actually just nip him a little to show "who's boss"
(Tony stewart is pretty notorious for his hot-head as they call him "smoke")

Every other driver that passes the kid is going down low-side and slowing down.
Tony was the only one who seemed to still be going fast and for some odd reason
taking the high side of the turn?!

Once he kicks the rear-end out, It looks as if he noticed he was going to
come a little close to the kid and stopped following through with the slide
which made him jerk to the right after hitting the kid.

If anyone hasn't seen the full video, Tony was also the one who cut the kid
off and put him into the wall. Which to me, seemed pretty intentional as well.
So maybe they had some prior "beef" or maybe a little aggressive rubbing
during the race beforehand.

Regardless, It's sad to see such a young kid die and I can only imagine
how Tony Stewart is feeling...

Running into the middle of an active race track... I really can't see that being a good thing for anyone.

I do completely agree, but it's still no excuse to act reckless when
you are in control of a 1500lb machine around a 150lb human being.

Because it is this easy to just take someones life, regardless of how
good of a driver you think you are.

Same goes for going into the middle of the track. Knowing that there are 1500lb machines coming towards you.

This is really sad, and it's extremely unlikely that it was intentional.

With that having been said, the kid decided to play real-life Frogger without actually hurrying up and running his ass across the road. It sucks, and I'm sorry for his family, but it sort of is what it is.

I still don't understand why Tony decided to throw his rear-end out
around a corner, during caution, all with knowing the kid was enraged and
possibly out on the track.

Tony put him into the wall, so he of all people knew where the wreck was.
So why drive by acting reckless? Regardless of the kid being stupid and out on
the track pointing at him trying to confront.

He accelerated towards the kid. None of the other drivers did. IMO there was intent to get close.

It looks like Stewart was just going to step on the gas a bit as he passed him as a final, "Fuck you"...

..then the kid's foot gets under the wheel, pulling the rest of his body under which would take the right wheel off the ground which explains why the entire car jerks to the side (car drifts right AFTER he hits him and it's because the kid's body is in between Stewart's wheel and getting traction, car then jerks back to the left once it clears his body). You can see Ward Jr do a loop as he gets passed under, through and then over the wheel.

Tragic, but someone who races should know fucking better than to step out onto a track during a race - for any reason.

The fact that Ward Jr is 100% the one placing himself in all of this danger makes it hard for me to believe you could even spin an involuntary manslaughter charge out of this. He should have never, ever in a million fucking years been close enough to get fucking sucked under the wheel of a car.

This was completely accidental and is a sad tragedy for the racing community.

I'm sure Stewart fully understands the dangers of racing, not only for the drivers, but for safety crews and track staff that are close to the racing surface. He's been around the sport for years and he also now owns one track and has part ownership in another. To think he would purposely use his car as a weapon is pretty insane. I used to race competitively and the thought of hitting another driver, no matter how pissed off they'd make me, would never cross my mind.

Here's my take on the accident.

First of all, DON'T GET OUT OF YOUR FUCKING CAR UNTIL THE SAFETY CREW HAS ARRIVED. Yes, you just got wrecked out of the race and you want to show your displeasure with that driver but you should not exit your car until a safety crew shows up. Unless of course the car is on fire. There's always potential that another driver could crash into your sitting car...or you can get hit while you're on foot. None of the other drivers are expecting someone to be out of their car if a safety crew hasn't arrived.

Secondly, I'm not familiar with this race track but from what I can tell in the video this track is not very wide at all. It's looks like there's only room for two cars to be side by side in the racing groove. The kid not only leaves his car by walking away from it, he also walks down HALFWAY into the fucking racing groove. He does this and then you can see the blue/white #45 car have to cut left to avoid the kid. Then here comes Tony and there's really nowhere for him to go.

Also it looks like Tony was following relatively close behind the 45 car. This would make it close to impossible for him to see the kid due to the large wings that these sprint cars feature. Once the 45 had to cut left to avoid the kid, I don't think Tony had any reaction time to do anything. Sad.

In the bigger picture, I'm surprised this hasn't happened more often. It's a common occurrence to see drivers (at any level of racing) leave their vehicle to confront other drivers. It's obviously highly dangerous and needs to be somehow banned but I don't know how it would be enforced..

OP clearly has no racing experience and needs to STFU with his uneducated opinions.

First, you don't stop on a live track, because if they need to roll an ambulance, it's better to do it on a clear track.

Second, you don't walk across a live track, ever, under any circumstances, and even then only if a flag marshal okays you.

Third, the rev is clearly from losing traction when the idiots leg went under the wheel. What was he trying to do, stop the driver mid race?

Fourth, when you have just been in an accident, you tend to do stupid things... like misjudge where you are walking. I've seen people sliding at 40mph+ think they have stopped and try to stand up...

This is covered in just about every pre race meeting in the existence of motor sports. Same goes for the "wall of death", the entry line of the track.

The meeting normally says something to the effect of... If you are in an accident, clear the danger zone, if you can't (like in sprint cars) stay the fuck still until track crew have arrived and flags are thrown. If you don't, you will die. Considering you hear this every single race day, it's pretty fucking hard to plead ignorance.

I have put my fair amount of time behind the wheel in some late model
racing, I'm not sure why you are trying to get into a pissing match?

I don't think the kid was trying to tell Tony to stop his car in dead tracks.
More or less I believe he was just letting him know how pissed he was.
It would be different if he stood in the middle with his hands out telling him
to stop.

The kid was just put into the wall a little, it's not like he rolled 20 times and
became distorted.

I've watched multiple videos, and the "rev" did not happen at the time or after
the kid got hit, if that was the case then his rear end wouldn't of came out like that
BEFORE hitting the kid.

You can clearly hear and see that Tony had rev'd up BEFORE
hitting the kid. And that's the biggest argument I'm seeing.

To each their own, I'm not here to argue. As aforementioned, just speculation.

The camera guy is across the track, the rev and engines you hear are not Tony Stewart and those on that side of the track. It is from the cars closest to the camera. I have only seen one video source of the accident, can you share the others? There isnt enough evidence in the one I saw to say TS intentionally hit him.

This is like me walking on to the freeway, chances me in critical condition or dead goes up with every car that misses me.

This is what happened: brain fade, Tony looked at him and that's where he put the car Instead of looking Next to him which is where he wanted his car to go. Plain and simple - a tragic mistake. RIP.

PS gimpshit - get some fucking talent and/or some balls and STFU.
