I absolutely do not want to get any community up in arms to the point that they pull out their pitchforks and torches.

So this is a research question that should be regarded as "Your Opinion".

What constitutes Spam? A spammer?

Am I spammer if I send one message (and only one message) to a person that does not include any kind of sales content?

I was accused of being that after I sent an email to a person on my list. I sent them a free PDF with some helpful info and it did not have any AFF links embedded in it. There was only a site link to my membership site on the very last page.

So that accusation got me to thinking. If I try to be truly helpful and not expect any financial kickback does that make me a bad guy?

I don't think so but do you have an opinion?

There is nothing wrong with making money, unless you don't want to eat.

There is a saying, "If you stop to throw a rock at every barking dog, you'll never get to your destination." Keep marketing, and make dollars, there will be always a group of haters that want to stop your progress. You are just getting started, For every 1,000 emails you send out, and 1 clown hates, fuck him. This is your business and your livelihood at the end of the day. You know how many people are going to jump in your way? Hundreds.

On your way to the top, you know how many people are going to criticize you? Hundreds as well. They're mad cause they see someone else progressing and they're sitting on the sidelines not even in the game. So they'll throw hate. "Oh man, this guy is marketing to me..." Some weak passive-aggressive bullshit. How you respond and move forward mentally is the key.

If you try to please everyone you'll be the most loved dead person in town. Unsubscribe that clown and any future haters and move on. It's about getting money at the end of the day, everything else is a waste of time.
 
To answer your question: it depends on what country the recipient is in. In the U.S. you can email people that are not on your list as long as you follow proper regulations: CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In other countries, such as the UK, recipients have to opt in before being emailed. Whether or not you're a spammer depends on who you emailed - the same way as whether or not you're gay depends on whose butthole you licked.

Op I was gonna say how Buddy is a dogs name, But apparently that ship already sailed.

CanSpam? Naturally, because if it wasn't canned it'd spoil on the shelf.
