In reality terms its very difficult, if you walk on most street of Scotland people are not friendly at all.

If you lived in Dundee or above sheep shagger is pretty offensive to them. Otherwise there is not much else other than personal insults tailored to the individual.

In essence, we are used to allot of verbal insults and occasional aggression.

I did yes, even had a thread on it here, I am the 45%. They should have shown Braveheart the night before, we could have got that 6%.

45/55 - a pretty fucking close result for a nation who is supposed to be united wouldn't you say?

I remember being at a bar in NY amd meeting some young, friendly Scots. They had the thickest accents, my friends and I found them unintelligible. I've known a good handful of Scottish peeps over the years, but never was understanding them remotely an issue.

My question is - were these ones I met and couldn't understand, some kind of rural highlanders or have my Scottish friends in the US been here so long their accents softened?

Also, is whisky a point of pride to you or do you not really care?

Final - scots have a rep for being frugal. Any truth to that?

Its really, really depends where they are from, accents are so different in different parts of Scotland, I struggle to understand some people up North. They could be just from Perth, Dundee or Aberdeen - which i'm guess they were. Where I live, around 25 miles Southwest of Glasgow, we have understandable accents just about. Generally any further up than Aberdeen the accents get a little posher and well spoken.

For me not really, for Scotland, not really, maybe a little more up North Aberdeen/Inverness where the distilleries are? It's not really something you brag about, fuck, i didn't even know it was a real money making industry for us until the independence debate. We are just proud to be Scottish- we just don't know what for.

Yes, - more the older generations.

Yes, - more the older generations. I think because the war(s) - rations and all that shit it was bred into us.

What makes Lucky Charms so magically delicious?

Had to google what they were. We don't have them here, looks like a leprechaun on the box too which is an Irish reference. Likewise the 'luck' reference.

When we become adults here we no longer need cereals with colourful characters promoting them (well sometimes).
