Can someone that's Jewish explain why Orthodox Jews can't use electricity? Like...electricity wasn't around during the Old Testament, so where's this rule come from?

I am constantly mystified how seemingly intelligent people fail to see how Fucking Idiotic the rules to their chosen religion really are.
