Hi Guys

Instagram will shortly be adding ads to its feeds, and will also be trying out a Shop Now button to allow users to make direct purchases. Do you think the Facebook-owned company is wrong to do this? Adam Padilla of BrandFire thinks that it's a mistake. Personally, I think it will be fine as long as it's done with subtlety and isn't too in your face. Facebook wants to see a return on their investment, and I can understand why they are making this move. What do you think? Here's the article I read:

An ad man calls Instagram

How exactly is an artist that posts his illustrations on Instagram he sells an "ad man"? Doesn't seem like that guy has ever bought ads in his life.

Of course all the people making money for themselves don't have any interest in ads being added. It distracts what they are trying to sell to users.

Just like how FB pages don't exactly love that organic posts have to compete with paid posts for user eye balls.

However FB doesn't give a shit what these guys think on the subject. They are going to put in ads and start making money themselves. If a new platform without ads comes out to compete and starts gaining popularity they will just buy it again.

I love how people come up with the idea that companies should run services like Instagram with no ads or desire to make money on it. These guys don't understand the daily cost of supporting the product alone is close to or more then they make in a lifetime.

Seems great to me. As both a "user" browsing and a user "posting" it's a win-win to me. I can now buy from instagram AND sell!! Bonus!

If they don't over-do it it will be great, any business needs to have a source of income, if you don't take into account that they are owned by Fb, they do need to also produce not only consume :) . It will be fun for advertisers as well, might do some nice %% in the beginning when there's not much competition .

Any idea when they will open it to the public ?

Will the ad buying go through the fb ad dashboard? Hope not, since I got banned :xomunch:
