astrology niche landing page

I dont really understand what is going on. Too much going on, tighten it up and put the call to action above the fold. I think everything important could be above the fold so the users don't need to scroll down.

1. It's not 1994

2. I will bounce immediately from that page because I don't want to fuckin read.

Hide all that show below the fold and focus on selling at the top. Don't make anyone think. Pictures work well, so do arrows.

I know most people are going to think the webpage sucks, I can see why, but this could work for this particular niche, ofcourse I would definately split-test with another landing page.. Reason I think this could work is, you gotta think about the audience he's targetting. The people he's targetting are looking for something to read, it's about astrology, they aren't looking to purchase a tangible product, where all you need is a simple landing page and a call-to-action. As for being from "1994", almost all websites about astrology, psychic readings, horoscopes, etc.. look like that.

I'm no expert, just my $.02 .... you can always improve

Did OP already remove his landing page? You should keep the link here, you don't need to hide it from anybody if it sucks, you only need to hide it if you think somebody is going to steal it. You should get more opinions and learn.

I don't think you need "What is astrology", "Should I consult an astrologer?", etc sections. I assume anyone who lands on your page already knows that stuff. Just get to the point (the action you want them to take) and that's it. No reason why there should be any scrolling at all for what you're trying to accomplish.

yep I agree with that.

The opening quote is a great hook, re what 2008 has in store, gives a sense of urgency ... build on that - perhaps by giving some indication of what's in store for a couple of specific star signs - with a 'find out more' lead into a link. You have the symbols for a few of the signs already on your sections so that is what people will expect when they see them.

I would ignore everyone's opinions here. You have absolutely no idea how a landing page will perform until you send real traffic to it. Some of the worst hacked together shit converts like mad.

i would add a small stroke to the text of each heading since its kinda hard to read with the white drop shadow. also in my opinion the "click here" seems a lil dark and doesnt stand out much.

Isn't the idea of a forum to ask for help and share ideas/opinions? Advice like "ignore everyone's opinion" doesn't seem sound. True, testing and tracking is the only "opinion" that matters at the end of the day, but it is certainly possible to shorten the learning curve by avoiding other people's mistakes (such as the many, many I've made since my first business launch in 1981).

LOL at the above response...

Honestly though, although it's pretty bad, that's how we all started. Take the feedback you've received and improve from there. Also read the other posts on WF about LP's. Theres some great shit that's been written.

I think the best landing pages for that sort of stuff are like the sponsor landing pages that have the little thumbnail and description of the "psychics". Do they have a script to put that on your page?

By the time people get to your page, they are probably already looking for that sort of thing, so sell them on the service.

IMHO - the shovel them to the sponsor as fast as possible approach works best. :)

My .02. I don't think the page is too "1994" or whatever, I don't think you need a web 2.0 page for astrology.

I do think you should consider selling the benefits of using keen.com psychics, instead of just psychic's in general. If you're targeting people who need to be sold on using a psychic in the first place, your conversions will suck. So target people who already want psychic counseling and sell them on keen.com.

I also think the call to action should be above the fold.

I tried promoting the same offer in the past with miserable results. Their landing page has changed since, and I was shooting from a totally different angle, so don't let that discourage you.

Honestly, anyone looking for psychic or astrology stuff would probably react BEST to a FrontPage designed with a animated GIF twinkly star background and crap like that...
