Anyone got recommendations for outsourcing (PPC) keyword research?

I was thinking Elance myself but I thought I'd pop the question here first.

Why would you do that? All it takes is that person reading WickedFire to realize that they've got you by the balls.

I was thinking Elance, as well. If you're vague enough about what you actually sell (or whatever program you're driving traffic to) or why you need the research, there's pretty much no chance that the person will try to rip off your campaign for themselves. Just make sure you get somebody in the US - Outsourcing to any foreigners on Elance may hinder the effectiveness of keyword research.

Do it yourself... why would they do it for you if they could set up their own campaign?

I'll do your keyword research for you, I have in house tools.

$150 for 10k+ keywords, all I need is a seed keyword. Can have it back to you within 24hrs.

Right, that's what I was thinking as well. Of course there's always some risk but it's not like everyone has the skill or the knowledge to compete... Plus I'm also leaving some info out here.

After considering it some more though, I figured now is not the right time to go through with this. But I will probably try it in the future.

Thanks for the feedback.

I've actually got a RFP out on elance where I'm looking for someone to do this as well as some copywriting etc.

Someone above mentioned to make sure they're in the US as it might make it hard to do the research otherwise.. does anyone know why that is? There are some interesting bids coming back from india that appear pretty cost effective.

Matt, I figure that's because native Americans are more familiar with terms that play a role it the US. For example... if I wouldn't watch the US news I as a European would have never heard about the term "medicare" related to health care. Or maybe a lot of foreigners for hire just suck at the English language... I don't know... In the end though it's all about finding someone good I guess, wherever he or she is from.

Anyway, I posted a job at Elance and I got one bid asking $250 for 1000 keywords, and I got another one bidding $400 for I don't know what exactly. Are these bids ridiculously high or is it just me?

I took a bit different route. I'm trying to get setup with a virtual assistant that has this skill set. I've gotten 1 good bid back on elance for what appears to be a company doing this type of work for $6 / hour. I'm going to start them off with some simple tasks that I already know exactly what the output should be. If it all pans out I'll get them on more sensitive stuff & trust their results a bit more.
