Hey everyone,

I hear alot about how search and content should be track separately. I dont remember where I've read it but I've also read that where your content ads are targeted are determined by your top 50 (?) keywords in your adgroup.

If this is the case, how do you go abouts setting up a targeted content PPC campaign?

Do you create a campaign for search, then one with the same keywords for content in a separate campaign?

Is it possible to have one campaign for content placement but different ad groups for different niches so that whole campaign targets only content placement? ie. campaign: content ads; adgroup1: loan widgets; adgroup2: law widgets, etc.

Sorry if this it totally wrong, i'm starting to venture into setting up content targeted campaigns and werent too sure how things worked in comparison to search.

separating them out is definitely what you should be doing. if you don't, the 1000's of impressions in the content network will drive down the ctr of your search campaigns, causing you to either pay more or get lower positions.

i'd setup a content campaign, run it for a thousand clicks, run a content report in adwords and find out which sites made conversions. then take those sites, make a new placement campaign targeting those specific sites. you can also write a better ad for each site doing it this way.

you definitely want to do them sperately, or your QS will get owned.

QS doesn't matter as much for content network btw.

when i setup a content campaign, can i setup 1 full content campaign for all different niches and just target each adgroup to each niche or should i have 1 targeted content campaign for only niches related to the campaign title?

it doesn't matter, it's not going to affect your CN QS if your campaigne adgroups are unrelated, but personally I would group related adgroups for organization purposes.
