Question for a friend of mine regarding monetizing 3D-model design

I'm posting this on behalf of my second-cousin Frank who is also my close friend and drummer.
He's not at all web-savvy but really wants to make moneys on da intrawebs and be a success internet guy.

On the other hand - he's actually very good at designing 3D models in programs like 3D Studio Max and Lightwave 3D. He knows companies online sell complete models for animation work, etc. and that there is good money to be made. He just doesn't know how and where to go about it on the internet.

As an affiliate marketer, I don't know too much about direct selling 3D models on the net so I couldn't give him too much advice. I found a couple of sites on Google where people can exchange and sell models, but they seemed very amateur-ish.

Does anyone here have experience making money from selling graphics, logo design or 3D-work of any kind?

maybe he should also hit the the indy game development community

gamedev.net is the largest of the bunch, and i think its free to throw out a feeler in the help wanted forum. Most ppl want custom jobs i think, but if he is a fast skinner i suppose he could make some money reusing the actual models.
